Addressing my annual message on the occasion of celebrating the birth of Jesus, I wish above all a Merry Christmas and a new year with health The light produces joy, children stop to contemplate his blink. In fact every human being is a form of light.

Queridos hermanos y hermanas:

Al dirigirles mi mensaje anual en ocasión de la celebración del nacimiento de Jesús, les deseo, ante todo, una Feliz Navidad y un nuevo año con salud y esperanza.

En estos días en muchas de nuestras casas y en nuestras iglesias brillan las luces del árbol de Navidad. La luz produce alegría, los niños se detienen a contemplar su parpadeo. De hecho cada ser humano es un buscador de la luz.

Desde tiempos remotos los cristianos iluminaban con grandes antorchas los árboles del bosque o de su jardín la noche de Navidad. Este es el origen del árbol de Navidad.

Celebraban así la fiesta del nacimiento de Jesucristo, Nuestro Señor, porque Jesús es la luz de Dios que viene a este mundo. Nos dice el evangelista San Juan: “Vino al mundo la luz que ilumina a todo hombre”

Sí, los cristianos celebramos con luces la alegría de la Navidad. La luz es símbolo del gozo que debe llenar nuestros corazones por el nacimiento de Jesús, el Hijo de Dios.

Hace años, siendo sacerdote joven, en la querida parroquia de la ciudad de Cárdenas, iba los viernes a visitar el asilo de ancianos y allí encontraba arreglando su habitación, barriendo el piso, o haciendo siempre algo, a una anciana ciega, que al reconocer mi voz, manifestaba alegría y afecto con una gran sonrisa. Un día le dije cuánto admiraba, al hallarla siempre activa y de buen ánimo, a una persona que no podía ver. Ella me respondió sin perder su serena y amplia sonrisa: ¡Ay, padre, a mí me falta la luz de afuera, pero tengo aquí dentro –y se llevó la mano al pecho- la luz de la fe, la luz de Cristo!

A esta luz me refiero, queridos hermanos, porque nos dice también el evangelista San Juan acerca de Jesús que: “la luz brilló en las tinieblas y las tinieblas no la recibieron”. Dios siempre respeta nuestra libertad.

En efecto, la luz de adentro a que se refería la anciana ciega, esa luz del corazón, puede no ser acogida por nosotros y permanecemos entonces en la oscuridad, y nuestro mundo interior se puebla de tinieblas.

Por eso la Navidad no es una simple conmemoración de un hecho histórico. Cada Navidad, y pudiera ser también para ti cada día, la luz de Cristo viene a nosotros, pero si no nos dejamos iluminar por El, las posibilidades de paz y felicidad que nos da las podemos ahogar en la oscuridad de nuestros corazones. Se apaga así la luz de la Fe. Y cuánto necesitamos esa fe en la vida.

No sólo las cosas exteriores pueden alegrarnos o satisfacernos. La sede de la felicidad es la interioridad del corazón humano. Allí pueden anidar las tinieblas del odio, del desaliento, de la desesperanza, de la apatía, que ahogan la luz de la fe y siembran desasosiego e intranquilidades.

Cuántos caminos equivocados tomamos envueltos en esa bruma interna que no nos permite ver el bien más allá de lo que me agrada, me satisface, o me resulta de provecho material.

Cuántas veces se toman desde esa oscuridad interior las decisiones de romper una unión matrimonial, de cobrarnos el mal que nos han hecho con otro mal o, simplemente, vivimos desencantados, tristes, sin esperanza. La fe verdadera lleva consigo el amor y la esperanza.

Aunque la situación económica sea preocupante y me afecte a mí y a los míos, aunque la enfermedad, dificultades de convivencia u otras nos limiten, aunque nuestros justos deseos de bien y de equidad no se cumplan, la fe sigue brillando como una luz en nuestra mente y en nuestro corazón, porque ponemos todos nuestros anhelos y deseos en manos de Jesús y El, que es la luz de mundo, nos hace salir de esa oscuridad. La luz de Cristo siempre vence las tinieblas, y en cada recodo del camino está Jesús convocándonos: “Vengan a mí todos los cansados y agobiados y yo los aliviaré”, “no teman, pequeño rebaño mío, yo he vencido al mal”. No des por lo tanto espacio en tu corazón al desaliento y la desesperanza.

Que nuestras familias no se dejen vencer por las tinieblas, que brille la luz de Cristo en nuestros hogares, no sólo en el árbol de Navidad de estos días hermosos, sino en lo que es más importante, en los corazones de todos sus miembros cuando en la noche del 24 de diciembre, que es nochebuena, se reúnen a comer juntos, cuando van a la iglesia a la Misa de Medianoche de ese día 24, cuando visitan a familiares y amigos el día 25 de diciembre que es Navidad o en la semana final del año que es como un eco de la fiesta navideña. Si en estos días se reconcilian las familias divididas, si tendemos la mano a alguien que la está pasando más mal que yo, si sembramos un poquito de alegría y amor a nuestro alrededor, podrán ustedes imprimirle una nueva dimensión de paz y esperanza a sus vidas en esta Navidad.

Es cierto que siempre faltará en la celebración navideña alguien que partió definitivamente al encuentro del Señor y otros miembros de la familia, quizás los más jóvenes, que se han ido del país. Las familias se alegran este año de poder recibir a familiares de Estados Unidos que deseaban venir a visitarlos y no podían hacerlo. Damos por esto gracias a Dios. Pero entre penas y alegrías debe brillar por encima de todo la estrella de Navidad, la que indicó a los reyes magos dónde estaba Jesús recién nacido, luz del mundo, que trae consigo el amor y la esperanza.

Al aproximarse estos días santos les deseo de nuevo una Feliz Navidad y los bendigo en el nombre del Padre y del Hijo y del Espíritu Santo.

S'adressant à mon message annuel à l'occasion de célébrer la naissance de Jésus, je veux surtout une joyeux Noël et une nouvelle année avec la santé et l'espérance.

En ces jours, plusieurs de nos maisons et nos églises lueur des lumières d'arbre de Noël. La lumière procure de la joie, les enfants s'arrêtent pour contempler son clignotement. En fait chaque être humain est une forme de lumière.

Depuis l'antiquité chrétiens fois torches allumées grande forêt avec des arbres dans votre jardin ou la nuit de Noël. Telle est l'origine de l'arbre de Noël.

Et célébré l'anniversaire de naissance de Jésus-Christ, notre Seigneur, parce que Jésus est la lumière de Dieu venant en ce monde. Affirme l'évangéliste Jean: «Il est venu dans le monde la lumière qui éclaire tout homme»

Oui, les chrétiens célèbrent avec feux de joie de Noël. La lumière est un symbole de la joie qui doit remplir nos cœurs à la naissance de Jésus, le Fils de Dieu.

Il ya des années, étant jeune prêtre dans la paroisse de la bien-aimée ville de Cardenas, a été le vendredi pour visiter la maison de retraite où il s'occupait de sa chambre, balayant le sol, ou de faire toujours quelque chose, une vieille femme aveugle, qui a reconnu ma voix, exprimant la joie et l'affection avec un grand sourire. Affrontare il mio messaggio annuale in occasione della celebrazione della nascita di Gesù, vorrei prima di tutto un Buon Natale e un nuovo anno con la salute e la speranza.

In questi giorni molte delle nostre case e le nostre chiese bagliore delle luci dell'albero di Natale. La luce produce la gioia, i bambini fermarsi per contemplare il suo lampeggiare. In realtà ogni essere umano è una forma di luce.

Fin dai tempi antichi cristiani torce accese con grandi alberi della foresta nel vostro giardino o la notte di Natale. Questa è l'origine dell'albero di Natale.

E ha celebrato il compleanno di Gesù Cristo, nostro Signore, perché Gesù è la luce di Dio che viene in questo mondo. Dice l'evangelista Giovanni: "Egli è venuto nel mondo la luce che illumina ogni uomo"

Sì, i cristiani celebrano la gioia con le luci di Natale. La luce è un simbolo della gioia che deve riempire i nostri cuori per la nascita di Gesù, il Figlio di Dio.

For many, 2009 was a year marked by one of the worst economic crises in history. But for an industry in Argentina year which is nearing completion was a real milestone in its growth.

"Lo más importante que hicimos fue ampliar el personal, algo fundamental ya que los temas de investigación se siguen multiplicando", afirmó.

Los más beneficiados por las nuevas políticas fueron los jóvenes, el grupo que más se había visto excluido por el tradicional sistema de llenado de vacantes.

IN the mid-1970s, the pop and disco group Boney M was created by German record producer Frank Farian. Originally based in West Germany, the four initial members of the group's official line-up were Jamaicans Liz Mitchell and Marcia Barrett, Montserratian Maizie Williams, and Aruban Bobby Farrell.

Prior to the official line-up, a studio line-up featured Williams, Sheyla Bonnick, a dancer known as Mike, and singer Nathalie. Nathalie was replaced by Claudja Barry. After Bonnick and Mike departed the outfit, Williams, Farrell and Barrett were drafted. Barry demitted the ensemble and Liz Mitchell stepped in.

Between 1976 and 1984, Boney M released six studio albums and a handful of compilations. The group charted a multitude of hits across several European charts, but only four managed to chart in North America.

Among the group's hits, which to this day are still heard on radio, are Do You Wanna Bump, Daddy Cool, Sunny, Ma Baker, Belfast (originally a solo hit for Marcia Barrett), Brown Girl in the Ring, By the Rivers of Babylon, Rasputin, Mary's Boy Child, Hooray! Hooray! It's a Holiday, Elute, and I'm Born Again.

After the group broke up in the late 1980s the members went their separate ways and today they each have their own versions of Boney M, touring the world. This writer caught up with former Boney M member Marcia Barrett via telephone at her home in Germany on Christmas Eve.

Kevin Jackson: Mary's Boy Child is still a popular staple at Christmas time. What was the band going through at the time when the song was recorded in the late 1970s?

Marcia Barrett: Hectic, hectic, hectic, but nice hectic. We were travelling the world at the time and it was a fabulous feeling. The song spent four weeks at number one in Britain and ended up in the Guinness Book of Records.

KJ: Why was the song recorded and where did the actual recording take place?

MB: It's a cover version, and at the time our producer Frank Farian had persons advising him on songs that the group should cover and Mary's Boy Child was one of them. It was recorded in Germany, like all of our other songs. That's Boonoonoonoos was recorded in France and Silly Confusion was recorded at Tuff Gong in Jamaica.

KJ: Talk to us about Boney M's time in Jamaica while recording the song Silly Confusion.

MB: We were in Jamaica for three weeks in 1981 and we also performed at the Intercontinental Hotel, while we also did footage for music videos while we were in Montego Bay and at Dunn's River Falls. The performance was well-received, and it was a fantastic feeling being back home. Liz and I are from Jamaica.

KJ: What caused the group to break up?

MB: Our producer Frank Farian decided, after 10 years, not to produce anymore. He wanted to do rock music. We were very unaware of it and were left in the cold by the producer who had his egos to produce other stuff. The group still carried on after a couple of years. Liz left in 1988, then Bobby left, and Madeline Davis later joined the group. The group officially disbanded in 1990.

KJ: After the group broke up, what was your next move, professionally?

MB: Well, I relocated with my husband Marcus James to Florida. He was the bassist with Eddy Grant for a number of years. Later on I got ill, but now we are back in Germany.

KJ: Why was Boney M so big around the world, yet success evaded the group in America?

MB: I know the reason why. Boney M wasn't promoted in the US because Frank Farian is German and couldn't speak English. So, I don't know what deals he had turned down for America. That was the only country around the globe that we didn't have success.

KJ: I know you have released some solo albums, but what have you been up to these days?

MB: I am touring as Marcia Barrett of Boney M with my team since 2005. I intend to go into the studio, early in the new year, to do some beautiful tracks and collaborate with some well-known artistes.

KJ: Are you still in contact with the former members of Boney M?

MB: I saw Liz two years ago in London at the Daddy Cool musical, and I haven't seen Bobby since 1995. I am in touch with Maizie, and I saw her just last year.

KJ: Talk to us about your battle with cancer.

MB: I had ovarian cancer in 1994, and in 1998 I had breast cancer. In July of this year I had a 10-hour operation to remove a tumour from my oesophagus and by October I was back on the road again. I am a fighter and I love life too much to give up.

KJ: Have you thought about getting back together with the other original members of Boney M?

MB: Well, I would love it, and people have been asking us year in, year out. It looks so steep to organise. I want it; I don't think Maizie or Bobby would mind. Everybody would need to have some energy to do it.

KJ: Where in Jamaica are you originally from, and how often do you visit?

MB: I'm from Old Harbour; I grew up in Church Pen. I also lived in Kingston with my godmother Sylvia Sinclair. I am a very proud Jamaican. My husband Marcus and I got married at the Half Moon Hotel. The last time I was in Jamaica was four years ago.

KJ: Recently, pop star Lady GaGa sampled the Boney M song Ma Baker in her number one hit Poker Face. How do you feel about that?

MB: I felt proud because the name Boney M continues to live on.

KJ: If you were to do it all over again, what would you have done differently?

MB: Nothing. I am counting my blessings. I started out at the age of 19 in Germany, and I have a soft spot for the Germans. They gave me the break that I needed at the time.

KJ: If you were to depart this earth tomorrow, what would Marcia Barrett want to be best remembered for?

MB: For the work I have done and for the person that I am. I am a true person; I never lie, and I don't backbite.

KJ: What are your thoughts on the current state of popular music globally?

MB: It's somewhat disappointing. You can't sell records like you used to, and then there is the issue of piracy. There are also quite a few false Boney M's out there, and that's really not nice.

Egypt Library threatened with closure. "The Arabist>"

CEDEJ library threatened with closure

I just found out from a friend that the library at the Centre d’Études et de Documentation Économiques, Juridiques et Sociales (CEDEJ) in Cairo is scheduled to be closed due to budgetary constraints. A number of academics are appealing to the French government (the center’s funder) and the CEDEJ itself to maintain the library, an invaluable resource on modern Egyptian history. Notably, the CEDEJ is thought to have one of the best archives of press clippings on Egypt, maintained since 1977 and one of the best managed and most accessible in the country.

The academics’ letter is after the jump, but on a personal note I’d like to also voice my concern for the CEDEJ librarian, the Tunisian intellectual Mustafa Khayati. Khayati was one of the original Arab members of the Situationist movement in France in the 1950s and 1960s (writing the great “On The Poverty of Student Life” and other radical texts), and is a great resource himself on a wide range of subjects. He would have his own interpretation of the bizarre steps that would lead to the closure of a library at a place supposed to be a research center, but I’ll leave it at that.

The jury of the Prix literary Louis Roger Nogueras 2009 distinguished himself in illustrated assassins, Novella to recognize in its author, Rafael Grillo, 'originality in addressing the issue, its playful sense and his mastery of language reflecting profound literary knowledge'.

Surface current patterns were used to map dispersal routes of pelagic larvae from 18 coral reef sites in the Caribbean. Thesites varied, both as sources and recipients of larvae, by anorder of magnitude. It is likely that sites supplied copiouslyfrom "upstream" reef areas will be more resilient to recruitmentoverfishing, less susceptible to species loss, and less relianton local management than places with little upstream reef. «La sociedad en la que nos movemos ha inventado muchos sistemas para obligarnos a actuar de un modo determinado, sin que nos enteremos demasiado. A través del vestido podemos suponer ciertas características de los individuos que se nos escaparían si anduviesen desnudos; por ejemplo, su procedencia social, su nivel de cultura, su trabajo, sus gustos, su tipo de vida, y sobre todo su nivel de poder. Así afirma la periodista española Margarita Rivier en su libro La moda: ¿comunicación o incomunicación?, citado por la especialista Yeisa Sarduy Herrrera en su trabajo de diploma dedicado a la moda y sus principales características, que ella define como la imitación y la diferenciación.

In my opinion is not a question of ideologias, is a matter of taste, not social e.g. University young, or certain people with very high cultural minorities tastes. Hablo del cubano de a pie, de los otros 10 millones.La moda extranjera se impone por que trae aparejada calidad, porque trae implicito cierta estética, porque los diseñadores cubanos actuales no sirven (mi opinion personal, siempre buscando lo exótico, pensado para el extranjero , no para el nacional), porque lo que venden en las tiendas del estado en divisas no gusta y porque no hay una infraestructura economica y de mercado que pueda desplazar la moda extranjera.Hasta que no seamos capaces de desplegar todo un andamiaje de publicidad para la moda cubana ,que refleje los valores del cubano, producciones con calidad y estética,la moda extranjera se nos ira metiendo por los poros hasta que no nos acordemos de que cosa es una guayavera.Me parece que este articulo puede y debe continuar, tocando puntos sensibles como marketing para la moda cubana, presupuestos para sustituir importaciones textiles, formacion de personal como modistas y estilistas, y por sobretodo publicidad a lo cubano, no desde un punto de vista explícito y politico, sino implícito y que refleje valores de todos tipos, no necesariamente patrioticos,eso si, siempre resaltando al cubano y lo que nos caracteriza como seres humanos. La moda establece un sistema de signos primarios de civilizacion a trave de los cuales se establece el valor cultural de la identidad sobre la base de la expresion del rol de sexo y la imagineria erotica, dejar esto en manos de las transnacionales que uniformizan la conducta del mercado barriendo con la biodiversidad es la primera frontera que debilita los valores nacionales y de area, e ahi que los ejercitos le den una enorme importancia cultural e ideologica al uniforme y los simbolos, yo pienso que dejarle este terreno al mercado de los ricos, con intereses y valores eticos y morales que muchas veces se alejan del ideal de una isla del caribe, sin inmigrantes extranjeros, es abrirle la puerta a la enajenacion y el desarraigo cuando tenemos poderosas y genuinas influencia culturales de Espana, Africa, el Medio Oriente que son fuentes de creacion para nuestros disenadores, Cuba toda la vida ha tenido tradicion de diseno a nivel internacional, gente famosa se iba a cortar vestidos en La Habana, y realmente, es un campo que si se descuida es como regalarle todo el oro y los diamantes a cualquier que quiera controlarnos(y los hay a mares...) no como cultura, sino como mercado de sociedad de consumo. Deben crearse fuentes de mercado con la individualidades de la moda, dar licencias a disenadores y su grupo, como se hace con los musicos, para que habran casas de moda bajo su gestion personal y familiar, y con apoyo estatal, los jovenes puedan acceder a ropa de disenador que los exprese como cubanos,lo mismo sucede en la fotografia social donde prevalece el kish por la politica gubernamental hacia los fotografos particulares que solo se dedica al impuesto y no a la calidad y naturaleza del producto, ese es el primer canal de cultura, la moda y la fotografia, porque estan vinculadas al desarrollo cultural del rol de sexo que lo identifica desde la epoca de Grecia (Ref.: "Paideia", capitulo sobre "Safo" y su significacion en la cultura griega, dentro del demos) Ademas, nuestros jovenes, gracias a Dios , estan muy alejados del heroismo conque contemplan algunos grupos en las sociedades de consumo a las mafias, la pornografia y los mercados de drogas, como parte de una "supuesta" libertad individual,(el derecho a ser mafioso, drogadicto y/o bruto en la sociedad de consumo) lo cual es ostensible en los juegos de video llenos de violencia y apologia del delito que inclinan a menores a crear masacres en escuelas secundarias en Estados Unidos. Forma parte de nuestra incapacidad y subcultura marginal en la prograqmacion mental, no del bloqueo, no dar la debida importancia a este asunto, como loo es el uniforme del ejercito cubano o el diseno de la bandera, son signos de civilizacion primarios y originan respuestas inmediatas tanto en nacionales como extranjeros. "Juventud Rebelde" debe crear una seccion fija de modas con fotos y comentarios de disenadores, orfebres, fotogfrafos sociales celebres, una seccion fija a cargo de los especialistas, ademas, un blog sobre moda... y es que no se entiende como ya no se ha hecho debido al publico del periodico, senores, la moda es mas politica que un discurso, le habla a todo el mundo...

Tenemos como modelo de casas de creadores de moda en Brazil, vinculados a la TV y el cine que pueden ser estudiados para su aplicacion en Cuba, incluso, los sindicatos y la FMC pueden dar creditos principalmente a las mujeres para acceder al pago de vestidos, zapatos, carteras, bisuteria cubanas, disenadas en Cuba y posiblemente cueste menos que comprar ropa de shoping dirigida a un mercado anonimo que no nos dice nada,no habla con la poblacion, ni interactua con nuestros valores...

Este es un articulo muy positivo,inteligente y verdadero.Porque realmente recoge los principios basicos en que se basa la moda y como repercute en nuestra juventud cubana, que aunque tiene limitaciones no esta excenta de adentrarse en ella,a tra vez del turismo sobre todo.Estoy adsolutamente de acuerdo con el critero que tiene la doctora acerca de nuestra juventud.Pues nada es mas cierto,de lo diferente que es la misma del resto de las de las demas juventudes, dado a sus virtudes,y valores sociales y morales que no deben perderse nunca,esto es muy real.

En esta ocacion podemos apreciar consideraciones mas precisas para el analisis de este asunto, ademas de ser una señal de los diferentes profesionales consultados para este articulo y la de este periodico de juventud cubana. De como hacer tanto en el area de la concepcion del diseño para vestuario, como en el de su produccion industrial. Lo expresa de forma clara y precisa la Sra.Molinet cuando dice :-..." Tenemos que vestirnos de acuerdo a nuestro clima,y la identidad la creamos desde adentro,con nuestras maneras de hablar y de socializar... en otro aparte sugiere que hay que retomar estrusturas de produccion, no muy complejas en volumen para la confeccion y que puedan proponer producciones adaptas, de ello se comprende a la vez que es una forma inteligente de trasmitir el saber profesional que se estructura en toda la red de la confeccion. Ademas de poder destacar aquellas personas que demuestren talento, y pasion en el oficio.Todo esto es posible en un marco de permanencia en el tiempo. Es claro que en este sector las improvisaciones y la ausencia de una competencia se paga muy caro en todos los ordenes, pienso en las personas que laboran en el area del comercio exterior y que tienen la responsabilidad de adquirir articulos dirigidos a la poblacion. Puede haber individuos que toman desiciones de comprar lotes de articulos que no correponde al clima, ni mucho menos a una calidad aceptable. La imcompentencia no es huerfana, tiene nombre y apellidos. E incluso pudiera predecir que estos (i)reponsables comerciales si tuvieran que pagar de su propio bolsillo no lo comprarian, ni mucho menos se lo pondrian. Por lo que he leido estimo que en Cuba hay un real fondo de sabiduria,talento,imaginacion,en este sector de la confeccion y la moda. El Sr.Masvidal señala que hay en el panorama del diseño cubano nuevas generaciones de diseñadores que se insertan en la nueva filosofia de...la "SACRO SANTA" era de la informacion y en ella se estan desarrollando en la busqueda de su necesaria respuesta a su tiempo;Y si ustedes me lo permiten le podria decir sin pretencion alguna que solo una labor sostenida de restauracion,recuperacion, de real valorisacion del trabajo calificado en este sector productivo, permitiria trasmitir de forma sabia e inteligente el valor del oficio que permitiria realizar esa alquimia fundadora de una nueva filosfia de creacion en un mundo de real. Alejado de la facilida "copiar y pegar" de lo que suena en otras latitudes en esta era de la comunicacion. Insisto el oficio, la experiencia y sus trasmision es la base de lo que maravilla,no me puedo sustraer de mencionarle un ejemplo: Cuando vemos el resulado de lo que proponen las Casas de la Alta Costura Parisina, se podria pensar que esto se reumen en "un click asi lo ideo, asi se hace". Lo real es que hay una interelacion de oficios muy fuerte de las "petites mains" costureras, modelistas, bordadoras,planchadoras,etc,etc... que trabajan con talento, amor y eficiencia en los talleres maravillosos, proximos de la famosa Avenida Montaingne en Paris Otro aspecto que me ha llamado la atencion es la valoracion de la Dra. Lourdes Dominguez, para mi sorpresa ella explica indices en determinados individuos. Que a mi parecer corresponde, salvando las distancias y los contextos socios-economicos, a situaciones que se producen en sociedades de un desarrollo economico de primera linea. A mí este artículo me parece una cosa estúpida, al parecer no hay de que escribir, decir ....«¿cómo implementar la moda en el socialismo?».... de que estamos hablando. Si la Juventud Cubana no usa símblos cubanos es porque no los hay en la venta. Tenemos una serie nacional de béisbol que todo el mundo sigue, eventos que la gente gusta de ellos como los lucas, muchísima música que la juventud sigue. Lo que pasa que somos pésimos, incluyo a los diseñadores, hay nada más que ver las cosas horrorosas que se venden en las tiendas, y claro en CUC. Y cuando uno ve un diseñador en la TV deja muchísimo que desear su trabajo. Lo de las universidades, solo son unos pocos en carreras de letras que tienen su forma y otro grupo distintivo en carreras de ingeniería, pero en su mayoría visten igual todos, porque es lo que hay y a lo que se puede acceder, además, no sé de que tendencia tomada por Internet hablan, como si eso fuera lo mas natural del mundo, sabemos que eso no es cierto. Me parece que estos periodistas nunca han salido de La Habana y no conocen para nada su país. Salgan de la burbuja que así no se puede hacer periodismo.

Me parece que en Cuba si existen buenos diseñadores con buenas propuestas, solo que las mismas no son asequibles a la mayoría de la población por no ser propuestas llevadas a escala industrial. Esto lo pude apreciar en FIART 2009, tuve el placer de asistir a una pasarela y ver unos diseños impresionantes, pero al llegar a los puntos de ventas los precios también eran impresionantes, por supuesto esto no es culpa del diseñador, sino de la falta de capacidad de la industria de producir y comercializar estos diseños muy cubanos y muy acorde con nuestro clima. Por otra parte el país gasta cuantiosas sumas de dinero importando ropas en lugar de promover la producción industrial nacional, medida que traería mayor desarrollo económico, generación de empleo y ahorro de divisas.

La moda en Cuba esta fuera de su panorama normal, hay personas que visten a la moda,porque tienen familia en el extranjero que le mandan ropa o dinero para poder vestir al estilo digamos de Europa etc..otros se visten como pueden,los mas extravagantes o son los llamados ,Punks o Rockeros.. En Cuba lo que falta es producir ropa, que vengan acorde a nuestras necesidades y a nuestra condicion de cubanos.El buen vestir en Cuba ,es un problema que deprime a la juventud y a cualquiera.

Bueno y retomando de nuevo la palabra, luego de leer el comentario para mi bastante desasertado del senor maikel y esto lo digo sin ofensa,pues creo que uno, no debe juzgar segun su condicion a los demas,pues yo no creo que todo el mundo en cuba vive sin acceso a la internet como por ej, el plantea,pues talvez todos no tengan la oportunidad de tener una computadora en su casa con internet,pero existen los centros de computacion para todos,muchos en los centros de trabajo tienen acceso a la internet,en las escuelas o quizas en la casa de un amigo tambien.Es decir en buen cubano,no tan calvo que se le vean los sesos!!.Tampoco creo que se vendan ropas horribles en las tiendas ,ni que nuestros disenadores sean malos como el dice,pues de hecho, si algo caracteriza al cubano es el buen gusto a la hora de vestirse y por supuesto, el que tiene buen gusto a la hora de vestirse, exige confecciones de buen gusto a la altura de lo que le gusta . Y muchas de las veces que no las consigue en las tiendas por la razon que sea,las manda a confeccionar manualmente a una costurera que para eso existen en cuba mujeres y hombres que cosen a la altura de cualquier taller exitoso del mundo,porque talento se le sobra al cubano para eso.Yo por eJ tengo una cunada que cose,que cualquiera pensaria que la ropa que ella hace fue confeccionada por manufactura industrial,dada la calidad conque ella lo hace.En cuba a pesar de sus limitaciones, jamas el cubano ha dejado de vestirse de manera general, bastante bien y aceptable,y estoy siendo modesta!!.Porque a pesar de carecer de recursos,que les han sido negado a los cubanos, a travez de la condicion de bloqueo al pais, impuesta por USA,jamas ha faltado la inventiva,la gran inteligencia y talento que caracteriza al cubano,para orgullo muy nuestro,y que el mundo conoce perfectamente bien.A mi sinceramente me parece senor, y no lo quiero ofender , que el que jamas ha salido de su provincia es usted,que realmente no se cual es.Pues a juzgar por sus palabras, yo pienso que ni siquiera conoce a los cubanos de todo el pais y habla por ellos,como si todos pensaran como usted,lo cual dudo mucho que asi sea.En todas partes del mundo hay personas que se visten iguales o parecidas siempre, como explica lo que dice el escrito,dado el seguimiento de algun patron copiado,ya sea de una revista,de la television,del turismo que aclaro hay bastante en cuba todo el tiempo,gracias a dios,por la parte economica que le toca a cuba!!,o de la internet, el que tiene acceso a ella,y esto ultimo no necesariamente tiene que ser en su casa.Hay muchos sitios a los que se puede acudir a la internet y conocer acerca de este tema,sobre todo al que le interese,porque desde luego hay a quien el tema de la moda le resvala y le parece cursi, talvez dependiendo de su punto de vista, pues "para gusto se han hecho los colores y para escoger las flores".Yo por mi parte, si antes dije que me parecia excelente la manera en que se habia conducido este escrito anteriormente,pues lejos de encontrarlo estupido me parece muy inteligente.Ahora en escala del uno al 100.Yo siceramente le doy 100 puntos.Lamento profundamente que otras personas se dejen llevar por analizis a la ligera y sin profundidad,de una manera bastante alocada y sin razonamiento,para elaborar una opinion tonta, acerca de estos puntos de vista,tan acertados y esta es mi opinion personal.Vuelvo y repito sin ofensa.

Me encantaría estar a la moda, pero con mi salario sólo puedo comprar en las trapi-shoppy? o tiendas de ¨trapos¨o de ropa reciclada(no sé como llamarles)y las ofertas no son las mejores. Me encantaría poder comprar un tejido nuevo y hacerme un vestido para fin de año, pero creanme, o me alimento o me visto. Esa es la realidad de los que vivimos de un salario. Podrá faltarme el trapo, pero no va a faltar a mi mesa el cerdo asado, el optimismo y la fe en un futuro mejor. FELIZ FIN DE AÑO. FELIZ AÑO 2010.

Muy buen escrito yo lo valoro de 100 puntos como la compañera Graciela Pena, pero estoy de acuerdo tambien con el compañero Maikel; me explico: Tendencia en internet? no tan calvo que se le vean los sesos, los joven clubs no sirven, por el mal estado de equipos e instalaciones, amen de las restriccciones en esos lugares y centros de trabajos que la tienen; realmente es un tema bastante delicado.....¿como implementar la moda en el socialismo? En mi opinión no es una cuestion de ideologias, es una cuestion de gustos, no de gustos de minorias sociales como por ejemplo jovenes universitarios, o determinadas personas con un nivel cultural muy alto. Hablo del cubano de a pie, de los otros 10 millones.La moda extranjera se impone por que trae aparejada calidad, porque trae implicito cierta estética, porque los diseñadores cubanos actuales no sirven (mi opinion personal, siempre buscando lo exótico, pensado para el extranjero , no para el nacional), porque lo que venden en las tiendas del estado en divisas no gusta y porque no hay una infraestructura economica y de mercado que pueda desplazar la moda extranjera.Hasta que no seamos capaces de desplegar todo un andamiaje de publicidad para la moda cubana ,que refleje los valores del cubano, producciones con calidad y estética,la moda extranjera se nos ira metiendo por los poros hasta que no nos acordemos de que cosa es una guayavera.Me parece que este articulo puede y debe continuar, tocando puntos sensibles como marketing para la moda cubana, presupuestos para sustituir importaciones textiles, formacion de personal como modistas y estilistas, y por sobretodo publicidad a lo cubano, no desde un punto de vista explícito y politico, sino implícito y que refleje valores de todos tipos, no necesariamente patrioticos,eso si, siempre resaltando al cubano y lo que nos caracteriza como seres humanos. Para mi el artículo es excelente y coincido con la opinión de Graciela P. Tengo muy buena opinión de las producciones artesanales de los cubanos y pienso que darle un impulso industrial sería perfecto, pero que mantuviera vivo un mecanismo de retroalimentación semejante al que utilizan los particulares para no "quedarse atrás". Por otro lado lo que le guste al extranjero no tiene porqué ser de calidad, solo miren lo que "ha provocado" en algunos pintores habaneros el gusto de los extranjeros (me refiero a los horribles cuadros de autos antiguos). También se pueden mencionar diseños (igual de horribles) en prendas de marca que el simple hecho de llevar un ícono los hace excelentes. Muchas veces lo que ocurre es que -a propósito o no- algunos rechazan lo que es cubano y dan por sentado que lo "de afuera" es lo bueno sin hacer un análisis con rigor.

En mi opinión… ¿La moda socialista?, ¿De que libro teórico salio algo así?, veamos …, según la teoría del socialismo, lo importante es la producción y la distribución de la riqueza de forma equitativa, en ningún momento se asocia el socialismo a la idea del Marketing de donde surge la moda, porque es la moda, el instrumento de marketing que permite al empresariado de ropas mantener un volumen estable de producción, producción obviamente que se vende en la marcha de las masas al toque de los tambores de la moda. // No es - y es mi muy sincera opinión - la moda algo factible de practicar en el socialismo, porque la moda implica cambio, porque la moda implica estética y porque la moda es ante todo, consumo y desecho periódico, ¿o es que acaso puede haber moda que no pasa de moda? // Independiente de eso, si puede haber moda cubana, y puede existir una industria textil de éxito, porque la cultura cubana es una cultura estética, pero se requerirían varios cambios antes de que esto suceda. ¿Alguien recuerda algo sobre la moda soviética?

Ante todo la compañera Graciela Pena parece no respetar las normas de esta sección de respetar el criterio ajeno, para sacar provecho de las cosas tenemos que aprender a oír qué piensan otros, por lo que parece ella tiene acceso a Internet y a las modas, no voy a cuestionar de que modo. Al igual le sucede a casi todos los periodistas al menos de los que salen en el noticiero de TV y otros "informativos", con revisar usted verá que al menos dan un "viajecito" a una "misioncita" una vez al año?- sino fíjese en Héctor, Froilan, Irma, Gladis...y hasta Serrano- y luego te cuentan !Que malo está el mundo! y tienen tiempo de hablarte hasta de la moda. Estos periodistas que hicieron este artículo me huelen muy parecido.

La moda establece un sistema de signos primarios de civilizacion a trave de los cuales se establece el valor cultural de la identidad sobre la base de la expresion del rol de sexo y la imagineria erotica, dejar esto en manos de las transnacionales que uniformizan la conducta del mercado barriendo con la biodiversidad es la primera frontera que debilita los valores nacionales y de area, e ahi que los ejercitos le den una enorme importancia cultural e ideologica al uniforme y los simbolos, yo pienso que dejarle este terreno al mercado de los ricos, con intereses y valores eticos y morales que muchas veces se alejan del ideal de una isla del caribe, sin inmigrantes extranjeros, es abrirle la puerta a la enajenacion y el desarraigo cuando tenemos poderosas y genuinas influencia culturales de Espana, Africa, el Medio Oriente que son fuentes de creacion para nuestros disenadores, Cuba toda la vida ha tenido tradicion de diseno a nivel internacional, gente famosa se iba a cortar vestidos en La Habana, y realmente, es un campo que si se descuida es como regalarle todo el oro y los diamantes a cualquier que quiera controlarnos(y los hay a mares...) no como cultura, sino como mercado de sociedad de consumo. Deben crearse fuentes de mercado con la individualidades de la moda, dar licencias a disenadores y su grupo, como se hace con los musicos, para que habran casas de moda bajo su gestion personal y familiar, y con apoyo estatal, los jovenes puedan acceder a ropa de disenador que los exprese como cubanos,lo mismo sucede en la fotografia social donde prevalece el kish por la politica gubernamental hacia los fotografos particulares que solo se dedica al impuesto y no a la calidad y naturaleza del producto, ese es el primer canal de cultura, la moda y la fotografia, porque estan vinculadas al desarrollo cultural del rol de sexo que lo identifica desde la epoca de Grecia (Ref.: "Paideia", capitulo sobre "Safo" y su significacion en la cultura griega, dentro del demos) Ademas, nuestros jovenes, gracias a Dios , estan muy alejados del heroismo conque contemplan algunos grupos en las sociedades de consumo a las mafias, la pornografia y los mercados de drogas, como parte de una "supuesta" libertad individual,(el derecho a ser mafioso, drogadicto y/o bruto en la sociedad de consumo) lo cual es ostensible en los juegos de video llenos de violencia y apologia del delito que inclinan a menores a crear masacres en escuelas secundarias en Estados Unidos. Forma parte de nuestra incapacidad y subcultura marginal en la prograqmacion mental, no del bloqueo, no dar la debida importancia a este asunto, como loo es el uniforme del ejercito cubano o el diseno de la bandera, son signos de civilizacion primarios y originan respuestas inmediatas tanto en nacionales como extranjeros. "Juventud Rebelde" debe crear una seccion fija de modas con fotos y comentarios de disenadores, orfebres, fotogfrafos sociales celebres, una seccion fija a cargo de los especialistas, ademas, un blog sobre moda... y es que no se entiende como ya no se ha hecho debido al publico del periodico, senores, la moda es mas politica que un discurso, le habla a todo el mundo...

Tenemos como modelo de casas de creadores de moda en Brazil, vinculados a la TV y el cine que pueden ser estudiados para su aplicacion en Cuba, incluso, los sindicatos y la FMC pueden dar creditos principalmente a las mujeres para acceder al pago de vestidos, zapatos, carteras, bisuteria cubanas, disenadas en Cuba y posiblemente cueste menos que comprar ropa de shoping dirigida a un mercado anonimo que no nos dice nada,no habla con la poblacion, ni interactua con nuestros valores...

It is unknown at this time how the city came to be on the sea floor, and not on dry land. “We have several theories.”
The team hopes to conduct a massive mapping and research expedition, to learn as much as possible about who these people were, before turning the site over to the Caribbean island’s home government. “Whatever we’ve found does not belong to us,” the project’s leader said, “It belongs to the people of this island, and to the world at-large. If any pieces are brought to the surface, they belong in the hands of a museum.”

SPECIAL REGULATION FOR THE FISHING OF NASSAU GROUPER GOES INTO EFFECT TODAY

The Nassau Grouper is a large predatory fish inhabiting coral reefs throughout the tropical western Atlantic, including the Caribbean Sea. Around the world, tropical marine fishery species such as groupers are being overfished, with devastating ecological and economic consequences to coral reefs. Experts believe that preventing these harmful effects requires management measures based on the best available information about these stocks, and the causes and consequences of overfishing them. That is why in Belize, a special regulation went into effect today with the closure of the Nassau Grouper season. According to the Acting Fisheries Administrator George Myvette, Junior, from now until the end of March of next year, only people with special permission from the Fisheries Department will be allowed to catch Nassau Grouper in Belizean waters. George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "Today also marks a special measure in which we allow fishers to target two of twelve spawning sights. These fishes aggregate to spawn and we have had to put in place some conservation measures that include closing ten of the twelve banks and actually the two that we have open can only be fished under special licenses issued by the Fisheries Administrator." Patrick Jones, Reporter What does that license cover? George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "The license authorizes the holder of fish one of the both of the banks and basically what it does is it is excludes people who would not have that special license from fishing. Those people to whom the license is normally granted would be the traditional fishers of that particular area. A person who, for example, is fishing in Glovers Reef would not be able to fish in Northern Two Caye which marks one of the banks that is open for fishing. The other bank is of course Maga Caye so the traditional fishers would have the privilege to fish." Myvette says that because of the serious strain on the Nassau Grouper population in Belizean waters, the Fisheries Department will be vigorously enforcing the new measure George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "Well there is a requirement for those people to fishers to land the Nassau Grouper whole. Fishers will generally land fish either whole or filleted by the time it reaches the market. We insist that the grouper is landed whole so that we can measure the grouper to make sure that it fits the legal size. Generally speaking the upper size limit is 30 centimeter. If you have a grouper that is larger than 30 cm it is illegal. The lower size limit is 20 centimeter so if you catch a grouper that is less than 20 cm it is also illegal. The legal size for the Nassau Groupers is really between 20 and 30 centimeters." Patrick Jones, Reporter This is the first time that this measure is put in place, what do you hope to be the eventual outcome? George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "It is a permanent law and essentially what we hope is for the species to be conserved. I should mention that throughout the Caribbean there has been an experience where these fishes have been fished in some instances to extinction and one mark of how well these populations are doing are really these spawning aggregation so we want to make sure that these spawning sites remain viable because in a sense they do not only feed into the fishes for the Belizean fishery but also for the larger Caribbean." Things are not looking good for the Nassau Grouper and appeals to the general public to help in this important work of conservation. George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "Given the experience that we have seen in the spawning sites we believe that the prognosis is not so good. We have had to close ten of the twelve banks. One of the largest banks rely was Caye Glory which in the 60's fishers used to harvest thousands of pounds of fishes from Caye Glory. That spawning site is now closed and it is an indicator that the species is not doing so well." Patrick Jones, Reporter The season runs until the 31st of March next year; if anybody is found contravening the law what happens? George Myvette Junior; Fisheries Administrator "There is a conviction fine of five hundred dollars and there is also jail time that goes with conviction for Nassau Grouper. One of the things we want to do is to appeal to the buying public that really you should only buy Nassau Grouper from those people who have special license. We are asking the public to make sure that the person you are buying from has this license that says that you are specially authorized to fish Grouper. If it is a whole fish we are asking the public to cooperate because only with public buy in can we be as successful as we want to be in terms of conservation." Nassau Groupers are generally identified by four to five irregular dark stripes on pale tan or gray body, black dots around their eyes, a large black saddle patch on their tail and a wide "tuning-fork" pattern on their forehead. Previous NOAA studies have shown that a quarter of the carbon dioxide that humans place in the atmosphere each year ends up being dissolved into the ocean. Overfishing: a threat to marine biodiversity
Despite its crucial importance for the survival of humanity, marine biodiversity is in ever-greater danger, with the depletion of fisheries among biggest concerns.
Fishing is central to the livelihood and food security of 200 million people, especially in the developing world, while one of five people on this planet depends on fish as the primary source of protein. According to UN agencies, aquaculture - the farming and stocking of aquatic organisms including fish, molluscs, crustaceans and aquatic plants - is growing more rapidly than all other animal food producing sectors. But amid facts and figures about aquaculture's soaring worldwide production rates, other, more sobering, statistics reveal that global main marine fish stocks are in jeopardy, increasingly pressured by overfishing and environmental degradation.
“Overfishing cannot continue,” warned Nitin Desai, Secretary General of the 2002 World Summit on Sustainable Development, which took place in Johannesburg. “The depletion of fisheries poses a major threat to the food supply of millions of people.” The Johannesburg Plan of Implementation calls for the establishment of Marine Protected Areas (MPAs), which many experts believe may hold the key to conserving and boosting fish stocks. Yet, according to the UN Environment Programme’s (UNEP) World Conservation Monitoring Centre, in Cambridge, UK, less than one per cent of the world’s oceans and seas are currently in MPAs.
The magnitude of the problem of overfishing is often overlooked, given the competing claims of deforestation, desertification, energy resource exploitation and other biodiversity depletion dilemmas. The rapid growth in demand for fish and fish products is leading to fish prices increasing faster than prices of meat. As a result, fisheries investments have become more attractive to both entrepreneurs and governments, much to the detriment of small-scale fishing and fishing communities all over the world. In the last decade, in the north Atlantic region, commercial fish populations of cod, hake, haddock and flounder have fallen by as much as 95%, prompting calls for urgent measures. Some are even recommending zero catches to allow for regeneration of stocks, much to the ire of the fishing industry.
According to a Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) estimate, over 70% of the world’s fish species are either fully exploited or depleted. The dramatic increase of destructive fishing techniques worldwide destroys marine mammals and entire ecosystems. FAO reports that illegal, unreported and unregulated fishing worldwide appears to be increasing as fishermen seek to avoid stricter rules in many places in response to shrinking catches and declining fish stocks. Few, if any, developing countries and only a limited number of developed ones are on track to put into effect by this year the International Plan of Action to Prevent, Deter and Eliminate Unreported and Unregulated Fishing. Despite that fact that each region has its Regional Sea Conventions, and some 108 governments and the European Commission have adopted the UNEP Global Programme of Action for the Protection of the Marine Environment from Land based Activities, oceans are cleared at twice the rate of forests.
The Johannesburg forum stressed the importance of restoring depleted fisheries and acknowledged that sustainable fishing requires partnerships by and between governments, fishermen, communities and industry. It urged countries to ratify the Convention on the Law of the Sea and other instruments that promote maritime safety and protect the environment from marine pollution and environmental damage by ships. Only a multilateral approach can counterbalance the rate of depletion of the world’s fisheries which has increased more than four times in the past 40 years.

"Lionfish are minor players on their native Pacific reefs, yet they are undergoing a population explosion and overeating small fishes in the greater Caribbean region," said Professor Mark Hixon of Oregon State University, Stallings' doctoral advisor at OSU. "Preliminary evidence suggests that lionfish are less invasive where large predatory native fishes are abundant, such as in marine reserves," Hixon said.
Major Losses For Caribbean Reef Fish In Last 15 Years

ScienceDaily (Mar. 20, 2009) — By combining data from 48 studies of coral reefs from around the Caribbean, researchers have found that fish densities that have been stable for decades have given way to significant declines since 1995.

"We were most surprised to discover that this decrease is evident for both large-bodied species targeted by fisheries as well as small-bodied species that are not fished," said Michelle Paddack of Simon Fraser University in Canada. "This suggests that overfishing is probably not the only cause."
Rather, they suggest that the recent declines may be explained by drastic losses in coral cover and other changes in coral reef habitats that have occurred in the Caribbean over the past 30 years. Those changes are the result of many factors, including warming ocean temperatures, coral diseases, and a rise in sedimentation and pollution from coastal development. Overfishing has also led to declines of many fish species, and now seems to also be removing those that are important for keeping the reefs free of algae.

"The discovery of mirror neurons and of other mirroring mechanisms in the human brain shows
that the very same neural substrates are activated when these expressive acts are both executed and
perceived. Thus, we have a neurally instantiated we-centric space. I posit that a common underlying
functional mechanism—embodied simulation—mediates our capacity to share the meaning
of actions, intentions, feelings, and emotions with others, thus grounding our identification with
and connectedness to others. Social identification, empathy, and “we-ness” are the basic ground of
our development and being.
The paper is structured as follows. I summarize recent neuroscientific evidence shedding light
on the neural mechanisms likely underpinning important aspects of intersubjectivity and social
cognition. This evidence has accumulated since our discovery in the macaque monkey premotor
cortex of a particular class of neurons known as “mirror neurons.” I discuss this evidence in relation
to empathy and introduce my model of embodied simulation, a crucial functional mechanism
of intersubjectivity by means of which the actions, emotions, and sensations of others are mapped
by the same neural mechanisms that are normally activated when we act or experience similar
emotions and sensations. I then present a concise overview of developmental psychology research
showing the early onset of social identification. I finally sketch some implications of this perspective
for psychoanalysis. My main point is that embodied simulation provides a model of potential
interest not only for our understanding of how interpersonal relations work or might be pathologically
disturbed, but also for our understanding of interpersonal relations within the psychoanalytic
setting.
MIRROR NEURONS
Mirror neurons are premotor neurons that fire both when an action is executed and when it is observed
being performed by someone else. (Gallese, Fadiga, Fogassi, & Rizzolatti, 1996;
Rizzolatti, Fadiga, Gallese, & Fogassi, 1996). Neurons with similar properties were also discovered
in a sector of the posterior parietal cortex (Fogassi et al., 2005; Gallese, Fogassi, Fadiga, &
Rizzolatti, 2002). The same motor neuron that fires when the monkey grasps a peanut is also activated
when the monkey observes another individual performing the same action.
Action observation causes in the observer the automatic activation of the same neural mechanism
triggered by action execution. The novelty of these findings is the fact that, for the first time,
a neural mechanism allowing a direct mapping between the visual description of a motor act and
its execution has been identified. This mapping system provides a parsimonious solution to the
problem of translating the results of the visual analysis of an observed movement—in principle,

devoid of meaning for the observer—into something that the observer is able to understand
(Gallese et al., 1996; Rizzolatti et al., 1996).
The proposal that mirror neurons’ activity reflects an internal motor description of the perceived
action’s meaning rather than a mere a visual description of its features has been demonstrated
in two seminal experiments.
In the first study, Umiltà et al. (2001) found a subset of premotor mirror neurons that discharged
also during the observation of partially hidden actions, coding the action outcome even in
the absence of the complete visual information about it. Macaque monkey’s mirror neurons therefore
respond to observed acts not exclusively on the basis of their visual description, but on the basis
of the anticipation of their final goal-state, simulated through the activation of its motor neural
motor “representation” in the observer’s premotor cortex.
Those data, of course, do not exclude the coexistence of a system that visually analyzes and describes
the acts of others, most likely through the activation of extra-striate visual neurons sensitive
to biological motion. However, such visual analysis per se is most likely insufficient to provide
an understanding of the observed act. Without reference to the observer’s internal “motor
knowledge,” this description is devoid of factual meaning for the observing individual (Gallese
et al., 2009).
A second study (Kohler et al., 2002) demonstrated that mirror neurons also code the actions’
meaning on the basis of their related sound. A particular class of F5 mirror neurons (“audio-visual
mirror neurons”) responds not only when the monkey executes and observes a given hand action,
but also when it just hears the sound typically produced by the same action. These neurons respond
to the sound of actions and discriminate between the sounds of different actions, but do not
respond to other similarly interesting sounds such as arousing noises, or monkeys’ and other animals’
vocalizations.
Mirror neurons’ activity reveals the existence of a mechanism through which perceived events
as different as sounds, or images, are nevertheless coded as similar to the extent that they represent
the assorted sensory aspects of the motor act’s goal. It has been proposed that mirror neurons by
mapping observed, implied, or heard goal-directed motor acts on their motor neural substrate in
the observer’s motor system allow a direct form of action understanding, through a mechanism of
embodied simulation (Gallese, 2005a,b, 2006; Gallese et al., 2009).

Today, when I get up at 6 a.m. the first thing I did faith review the website of my friend Erick Chudler, a neuroscientist at the University of Washington(1), a source of wisdom that I recommend to everyone if you want to know the world we live and why they behave in certain ways, in short, that we are and think as we think and above all, as we tend our own thinking traps that lead to failure or victory.
