Peru: climatic changes, diseases and food crisis.

Climate change in Peru brings out new diseases in areas of Cuzco where a portion of the crop is being lost by drought and pests.

The farmers of Peru sick when no money bequeathed to the clinic, they have to return to die in the community, as happened in Cuba before 1959 by the testimony of a peruvian farmer in a video of "BBC Mundo".(1)

Phytochemicals in plant-based foods fight obesity and prevent disease, researchers say in the University of Florida.

by S. L. Baker, features writer

(NaturaqlNews) If you ever feel tempted to go for a cheeseburger, fries and a soft drink, consider this: along with the fast food, you are ordering up an increased risk of heart disease, diabetes and obesity. But the opposite is true, too. According to a new University of Florida (UF) study, if you stay away from processed and fast foods and instead eat a lot of veggies, nuts and fruits, you will actively be helping to prevent or reverse harmful metabolic processes in your body. The result? Better health and a slimmer body.

An important advantage to having plant-based foods as an abundant part of your daily diet appears to result from the phytochemicals they contain. As noted in the UF findings recently published in the Journal of Human Nutrition and Dietetics, these natural substances prevent oxidative stress -- a process linked to being overweight and to the onset of diseases including heart disease and diabetes. Phytochemicals include lycopene from tomatoes, isoflavones from soy, beta carotene from carrots, anthocyanins from blueberries, allicin from garlic, and many more.

Without enough phytochemicals and antioxidants to counteract oxidative stress, damaging free radicals cause inflammation and other toxic problems in the body. In overweight people, excess fat tissue and certain enzymes that are more active also trigger the production of excessive free radicals, according to a media statement by the UF researchers.

The research team, headed by Heather K. Vincent, Ph.D., studied a group of 54 young adults divided into a normal weight and an overweight or obese group, analyzing their dietary patterns over several days. Surprisingly, the people in both groups took in about the same amount of calories. However, the overweight and obese young people were found to be eating fewer plant-based foods. That means those who were carrying around excess pounds were consuming fewer protective trace minerals and phytochemicals and consuming far more saturated fats.

In addition, those eating less plant-based foods were found to have higher levels of oxidative stress and inflammation in their bodies than their normal-weight counterparts. This is a crucial finding because oxidative stress and inflammation are processes clearly associated with the onset of obesity, heart disease, diabetes and joint disease.

"Diets low in plant-based foods affect health over the course of a long period of time," Dr. Vincent explained in a statement to the press. "This is related to annual weight gain, inflammation and oxidative stress. Those are the onset processes of disease that debilitate people later in life."

"People who are obese need more fruits, vegetables, legumes and wholesome unrefined grains," she said. "In comparison to a normal-weight person, an obese person is always going to be behind the eight ball because there are so many adverse metabolic processes going on."

In order to get enough protective phytochemicals daily, the UF researchers concluded that people should try to consume plant-based foods such as leafy greens, fruits, vegetables, nuts and legumes at the start of each meal. As a way to encourage people to get enough phytochemicals from meals and snacks, Dr. Vincent also called for use of a phytochemical index, which compares the number of calories consumed from plant-based, nutrient-rich foods with the overall number of calories taken in each day.

"Fill your plate with colorful, low-calorie, varied-texture foods derived from plants first. By slowly eating phytochemical-rich foods such as salads with olive oil or fresh-cut fruits before the actual meal, you will likely reduce the overall portion size, fat content and energy intake. In this way, you're ensuring that you get the variety of protective, disease-fighting phytochemicals you need and controlling caloric intake," said Vincent, an assistant professor in the UF Orthopaedics and Sports Medicine Institute, in the media statement.

Cuban University, first in the Caribbean area, ranks in the global competition of the Association for Compunting Machinery.

ACM, the world’s largest educational and scientific computing society, delivers resources that advance computing as a science and a profession. ACM provides the computing field's premier Digital Library and serves its members and the computing profession with leading-edge publications, conferences, and career resources.

Brazil, Mexico, Argentina, Venezuela and Colombia and Cuba, for first time will represent Latin America in the event of China.

My comment to this news in "Juventud Rebelde"
Now when I read this news in the web of the newspaper "Juventud Rebelde" in Havana Cuba think that it was time for computation classified internationally because since 1977 with the support of Russia and UNESCO for the integration of Cubans in the space race began to have computer labs, at least where I worked in the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba. But in that time, few Cuban leaders were aware of computer, This impacted on the media never talk about it, only as something exotic, even though thousands of students already had access to computers .. There are currently related to science computing data in the media in Cuba, but still I think that speaks very little about computing to the population, nor are there any TV programs as a fundamental principle of development in the country and for environmental protection as an island subject to climate change, such as , South Korea does, yet a central computer system that monitors pollution in the entire Korean peninsula and report any pollution or climate event in rivers, reservoirs and costs on time... Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida, 34233.

"Jamaican Observer": a hard time for workers.

A small poor country like Jamaica paid a hundred times the weight of the global economic crisis when confronted with a banking system based in rich countries unequal trade and political discrimination against the weak economy of developing countries. The global economic crisis created by rich countries is passing the bill for the weaker economy and isolated, without political credit, and where a product of the basic food basket worth ten, twenty times or thirty times more than in a rich country. ..Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida, 34233.

Having to live on minimum wage
...a harsh reality for many Jamaicans

By Alicia Roache roachea@jamaicaobserver.com
Sunday, November 22, 2009

Think about all the things you can buy with $4,070. Think harder
Four thousand and seventy dollars can't even buy a good pair of shoes, yet, that is how much many Jamaicans who earn the national minimum wage - $814 - a day, must survive on weekly.
"The cash register rings and the items add up. A can of corned beef costs $165, a can of mackerel - $53.52, a can of sardines - $51.22, a (very) small whole chicken (1kg) $275.57, 1 kg salted fish - $529, one sachet skimmed milk powder - $62.40, one can sweetened condensed milk, $107.50, one bottle cooking oil (500ml), $131.99, brown sugar (1kg) $68.75, bulk rice (1kg) $74.44, bulk cornmeal (1kg) $86.99, counter flour (1kg) $59.50, 1 doz eggs, $149. The cost to feed a family of three, for a week - too much.
Those who must survive on this sum speak of a life of hardships and sacrifices, and what's worse is that some employers exploit workers by paying sums lower than the minimum stipulated by law." ABSTRACT
While ocean acidification is predicted to threaten marine biodiversity, the processes that directly impact species persistence are not well understood. For marine species, early life history stages are inherently vulnerable to predators and an innate ability to detect predators can be critical for survival. However, whether or not acidification inhibits predator detection is unknown. Here, we show that newly hatched larvae of the marine fish Amphiprion percula innately detect predators using olfactory cues and this ability is retained through to settlement. Aquarium-reared larvae, not previously exposed to predators, were able to distinguish between the olfactory cues of predatory and non-predatory species. However, when eggs and larvae were exposed to seawater simulating ocean acidification (pH 7.8 and 1000 p.p.m. CO2) settlement-stage larvae became strongly attracted to the smell of predators and the ability to discriminate between predators and non-predators was lost. Newly hatched larvae were unaffected by CO2 exposure and were still able to distinguish between predatory and non-predatory fish. If this impairment of olfactory preferences in settlement-stage larvae translates to higher mortality as a result of increased predation risk, there could be direct consequences for the replenishment and the sustainability of marine populations.

Where to go in Sarasota, Florida if you are sick in demostrated financial needs

Handled for economic gain, political and / or legal to a mental patient goes against human rights.

One notorious case in Cuba is Panfilo an alcoholic and a vagabond who was wrongly convicted by a Cuban court when it is actually a mental patient with no responsibility for their actions.Panfilo under social pressure was referred to the psychiatric center of Mazorra where treatment was given as patiente but could not cure alcoholism.Improperly, the case of a homeless patient social object of medicine has been manipulated by the international tabloid press in Cuba was mismanaged by the legal system ...

When my wife and I went out in the mornings in the car to do any management in Sarasota, Florida, we see that increases dramatically the number of people wandering the sidewalks with obvious mental problems without treatment, or family or friends who care for them, people who should be treated as patients in a room crisis intervention, something that is normal in Cuba for these social cases, but in the U.S., under the current health system are people likely to fail in a jail because of illness Untreated mental. This is the case with workers who pay their insurance, but this insurer do not pay really the expensive doctor's prescription medication for his mental illness, psychiatrist or the doctor are lack today with free samples to give the his patient in financial need as they use to do before the economy crisis. We have not seen a single news article referred to this issue I think is a critical problem in the county of Sarasota we face every day because and is alarmant because the increasing number of homeless on the streets and especially in the "dow town" that overload the normal job of a police department no created to deal with social case or disease rate in population instead to law enforcement duties.Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida, 34233.

If you sick and are in demostrated financial need in Sarasota, Florida you can afford health care in "Community Medical Clinic" by the referal Sarasota Health Department, North County Health Center or phisicians on staff at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System..

The mission of the Community Medical Clinic is to provide specialty care referral services to those residents of Sarasota County who truly demonstrate a financial need. Providing access to care for those individuals who are uninsured or underinsured, or those who do not have the financial resources to receive specialty care elsewhere is the primary goal.
Proof of Sarasota County Residency (current picture identification and/or utility bill in your name with your complete address) is required. Low income and little or no insurance are also a criteria. Those seeking care must be referred by Senior Friendship Centers, Sarasota County Health Department or North County Health Center or physicians on staff at Sarasota Memorial Health Care System

By LESLEY ALDERMAN, November 21, 2009
IMAGINE this situation. You fall into a deep
malaise. Friends say you need help, but you don’t have insurance (or the insurance you do have has very limited mental health benefits), and you worry that extra bills will only add to your malaise. So you do nothing.
And that’s what many people do. According to a recent survey by the federal Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (Samhsa, pronounced SAM-suh) , the leading reason that people with mental health issues don’t seek treatment is cost. They fear the fees.
“There’s a misperception that care is always expensive, but that’s not the rule,” said John Draper, a psychologist and the project director of the
National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800 273-TALK), a free 24-hour service supported by the federal government. “There are plenty of ways to get help,” he said. “Some of them are very affordable.”
But while affordable mental care exists, it’s not always easy to find or get immediate access to.
Two weeks ago,
I wrote about how people with insurance can navigate the mental health system to get the help they need at prices they can afford. This week, I offer advice for those without insurance, or with only minimal coverage, on how to find low-cost mental health care.
MILDLY STRESSED? “Not all mental health problems require a professional therapist,” says Michael B. Friedman, a social worker and an adjunct professor at
Columbia University’s School of Social Work in Manhattan. For instance, if you just lost your job and you’re worrying constantly and sleeping poorly, you may be in a transient state of unease that will abate once your job hunt gains traction.
If you’re feeling depressed or anxious, but still coping relatively well, try making changes on your own (rather than spending money on a pro).
“Committing to one small change a week, like getting an extra hour of sleep or walking for 30 minutes a day, can go a long way toward improving your state of mind,” said Karina Davidson, a clinical psychologist and director of the Center for Behavioral Cardiovascular Health at Columbia University.
The change itself, combined with making the commitment to change, can have a subtle but profound effect on your mental health, said Ms. Davidson, who conducts research on the effect that
depression has on cardiovascular disease.
Another low-cost but very effective strategy, Mr. Friedman said, is to join a support group that addresses the problem you are struggling with, whether it’s job loss or an
eating disorder. “People get tremendous benefit from interaction with others,” he said. To find support groups in your area, contact the local affiliate of the nonprofit group Mental Health Americaand ask for a referral.
If a close relative has a drinking problem, consider attending
Al-Anon meetings where you can share your feelings and listen to the stories of others in a similar situation. Or if you yourself have a drinking problem, attending Alcoholics Anonymous meetings can be incredibly useful.
If time is an issue or you can’t find a support group near you, consider an online group.
Psych Central, a mental health resource site, is host to 150 online support groups and monitors each one to ensure that they are protected and secure, according to the site’s founder, John Grohol. Notably, over the last year, activity on the site’s unemployment and job search groups has increased to about 750 a day, Mr. Grohol said, up from 500 or so previously.
If you want a more intimate therapeutic relationship, and you belong to a congregation, do consider seeing your pastor. Pastors typically take courses in counseling, and some even have counseling degrees.
“It’s not medical care, but it can be very therapeutic,” says William J. Hudock, a special expert at the Center for Mental Health Services, a division of Samhsa.
TROUBLE COPING? How do you know when it’s time for professional help? “If you can’t get your act together,” said Mr. Friedman.
For instance, you should be job hunting, but you’re sitting in front of the TV all day. Other signs are symptoms like
chronic insomnia, overeating or undereating, or lack of interest in your favorite activities or sports teams.
If you are employed and your company offers an employee assistance program, take advantage of it. It’s free, and they can typically set you up with three or so sessions with a therapist.
If you have a good relationship with your primary care physician, you could see him or her. Your doctor may be able to refer you to a local mental health center for therapy, and maybe consider medication to help you out of your immediate funk. Doctors may also know of
psychologists who see patients on a sliding fee scale.
If you don’t have a doctor you like or you want an evaluation by a mental health professional, look for local universities that have graduate programs in social work or clinical
psychology. You can often get treated by graduate students who are being closely supervised, at less than the going rates.
Some private counseling centers also offer variable fees. For instance, at the
Ackerman Institute for the Family, a nonprofit counseling center in Manhattan, families with limited means are charged fees based on their income.
“We are not going to turn someone away based on their ability to pay,” says Lois Braverman, president of the institute.
If your child is having trouble, seek out the child psychologist at his or her school. This can be a great first-line treatment and it doesn’t cost a thing, said Mr. Hudock. Or talk to your pediatrician, who might know of affordable parenting classes or sources of low-cost care in your area.
If the problem relates to
substance abuse, call 1-(800) 662-HELP, a federal help line for obtaining information on substance abuse treatment services.
IN CRISIS OR
SUICIDAL? When you or someone you know is in crisis, you can go to the nearest emergency room for immediate help. You can also call the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline (800-273-TALK) where you will be connected to the nearest crisis center in your area.
The
Web site for Lifeline also has valuable information on how to cope with mental health crises, like how to arrange for an involuntary psychiatric evaluation or spot warning signs for depression.
You can use the Lifeline for any type of mental health crisis — not just suicide, says Mr. Draper, who adds that “70 percent of callers are not suicidal.” The people answering the calls can determine what help you need and also refer you to a facility for treatment, whether it’s a local hospital or a government-run mental health clinic.
In New York City, callers are referred to
LifeNet (800 LIFENET). LifeNet answers about 10,000 calls a month.
In some areas of the country, dialing 211 can connect you with mental health crisis services in your area or help you find where to seek immediate help.

A word of warning: When you are looking for low-cost care, you might face longer waits than when you are paying full fare (or your insurer is). But don’t let this deter you from staying the treatment course. Untreated mental health issues can very often lead to serious (and even more costly) medical problems.

The primary catechins found in green tea are epicatechin (EC), epigallocatechin (EGC), epicatechin-3 gallate (ECG), and epigallocatechin-3-gallate (EGCG), the most potent. As potential chemopreventive agents, catechins scavenge free radicals; inhibit enzymes involved in cell replication and DNA synthesis; interfere with cell-to-cell contact adhesion; and inhibit various intracellular communication pathways required for cell division. In addition, it has been postulated that EGCG may "trap" growth factors such platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) on cell membranes, immobilizing growth factors on cell membranes and preventing ligand-receptor crosslinking and growth factor receptor activation. According to new research, the beneficial antioxidant ingredients of green tea called catechins are better absorbed when the tea is mixed with lemon juice. Lemon fruit abounds in ascorbic acid—which is the scientific name for vitamin C—and scientists from Purdue University showed that catechins can be absorbed up to three times as fast by intestinal cells and get into the bloodstream when the vitamin is present. If Obama is successful in China, which similarly does not travel to Cuba?.

The legal basis of the embargo are the property nationalized in

Cuba after 1959, before U.S. courts, there are not human rights

under the U.S. approach to ban travel and communication

with the island, human rigths are a parallel theme in Obama's

visit to China.

Moreover, Obama has not met with the opposition in China, as a

condition for his visit to that country.

Ban to Cuba could be enacted soon,1.1 million american waiting to travel to Cuba.

By Jens Erik Gould and Nadja Brandt
Nov. 16 (Bloomberg) -- Spanish hotelier
Sol Melia SA will benefit over American rivals like Marriott International Inc. if a bill before U.S. lawmakers this week to end a 46-year travel ban to Cuba is enacted while a broader embargo is kept in place.
The trade embargo would ban U.S. hotel operators from lodging the
1.1 million Americans that the U.S. International Trade Commission says may visit annually if the travel ban is lifted. And repealing the ban may drive business away from other Caribbean resorts operated by U.S. companies, said Robert Muse, a Washington-based lawyer.
“While lifting the travel ban is a perfectly commendable project, the main economic beneficiary will be
Sol Melia,” said Muse, who advises U.S. clients on Cuba-related issues. Palma de Majorca, Spain-based Sol Melia is the world’s largest resort operator. It manages 24 hotels on the communist island.
The
U.S. House Committee on Foreign Affairs will hold a hearing Nov. 19 on the travel ban, the first since Democrats took control of Congress in 2007.
U.S. hotels, mobile phone providers, travel insurance companies and credit card issuers see the bill, known as the “
Freedom to Travel to Cuba Act,” as a step to ending the embargo, said Jake Colvin, vice president of the National Foreign Trade Council.
Standing Room Only

Once they are eliminated prohibitions on Americans traveling to Cuba, many tell me they want to alternate accommodation with mountain biking and camping as Americans, in their majority, have as priority sports and contact with nature.

The Washington-based trade association has held about six meetings with dozens of its 300 members to discuss business opportunities with Cuba since President
Barack Obama succeeded George W. Bush in January.
“If these meetings were taking place under Bush,” who favored retaining the travel ban, “you could’ve fit everyone interested in a closet,” said Colvin. “Now they’re standing room only.”
Christopher Sabatini, vice president of the Council of the Americas in New York, agreed that repealing the travel ban may lead to a reconsideration of the embargo. “The idea is to get rid of the travel ban and then let the momentum build,” he said.

The legislation has
179 bipartisan co-sponsors in the House and needs 218 votes to pass if all 435 members vote. A similar bill was introduced in the Senate.
“We certainly would monitor any changes the U.S. government makes regarding doing business in Cuba,”
Tom Marder, a spokesman for Bethesda, Maryland-based Marriott said.
‘Momentum’
U.K.-based
InterContinental Hotels Group Plc. says it will not enter Cuba as long as the embargo is in place. The company is subject to U.S. laws because the majority of its investments are in that country, said Alvaro Diago, who is chief operating officer and head of Latin America.
“U.S. hotel companies aren’t getting their fair share of the Cuban market while European companies have already a foot in the market,” Diago said in an interview. “The embargo is the one that dictates whether we will get in.”
U.S. tourists will flock to Cuba because their inability to travel there for almost 50 years has created an “allure” and “mysteriousness” about the island, said
Eric Trump, executive vice president of development and acquisitions for Trump Organization, a real estate investment and development company founded by Donald J. Trump.
‘On our Radar’
“Cuba has been on our radar, but until we can actually get in there, it’s harder to plan preliminary steps,” Trump, 25, said in an interview. “We are such a presence in south Florida. It’s such a staple for us. Cuba would fit right in there.”
Obama will face pressure from most governments in the region, regardless of their attitude toward Cuba, not to veto the travel ban repeal measure, Sabatini said.
On Sept. 3, Obama ended restrictions on Cuban-Americans traveling and sending money transfers to relatives back home. That’s expected to double to 200,000 the number of U.S. tourists visiting the island this year, Sabatini said.
Obama also allowed U.S. telecommunications companies to provide service in Cuba for mobile telephone, satellite radio and television. Current exceptions to the 1962 trade embargo on communist Cuba include $500 million per year in agricultural exports.

“If you are a potato, you can get to Cuba very easily,” Representative
Sam Farr, a California Democrat and one of the co-sponsors of the bill, said in a Sept. 21 interview. “But if you are a person, you can’t, and that is our problem.”
‘Holy Grail’
Orbitz Worldwide Inc. said Nov. 11 that it received 100,000 signatures for a campaign it started in May called OpenCuba.org. Lifting the travel ban to Cuba would probably increase Orbitz’s revenue from airline and hotel bookings, Chief Executive Barney Harford said in a Nov. 10 interview.
“It would be a net positive for the industry,” Harford said. “The interest level in Cuba would stimulate incremental travel.”
U.S. passengers on Caribbean cruise lines, with their accommodation and amenities already provided at sea, will demand sightseeing stops in Havana, said Bob Whitley, president of the
United States Tour Operators Association, which supports lifting the travel ban.
“Cuba is the Holy Grail of cruising,”
Richard Fain, chief executive officer of Miami-based Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd., said in an Oct. 6 interview in New York. “I can’t wait until we have a free and open Cuba.”

New Sarasota, Florida Family Park with a local museums.

A place to meditate in the midst of nature inspires, enriches instuicion and tested by science, influences the daily stress management, blood pressure and heart rate.

In the training course as there are signs that, in installments, to stop progress and measure heart rate.

The Park "Urfer Family" meets vital functions for the community in Sarasota County because its architecture is dedicated to public health life style at the level of primary care from physicians ...
The decrease in heart disease, anti smoking policies and decreasing stress through exercise, meditation, social and cultural life of the family are the first results of this complex under the American concept of green architecture.
The women, mainly Hispanic women have the No. 1 in patients with stroke in the U.S. due to family and social tensions untreated and lifestyle.
Economic indices of health in America: To get an idea of the importance of prevention and control of diseases through the culture of life and economic impact as a Sarasota County, consider these figures. Fast Facts on Coronary Heart Disease
• Coronary heart disease (CHD) is the leading cause of death in the United States
• There are nearly 1.5 million heart attacks per year in the U.S., according to the American Heart Association
• An American will suffer a heart attack every 34 seconds
• Coronary heart disease is also the leading cause of health care costs. More than $ 475 billion is spent annually on treating CHD, including: - $ 100,000 for each coronary bypass surgery - $ 50,000 for each angioplasty - $ 30,000 for each diagnostic cardiac catheterization
• There are nearly 500.000 coronary artery bypass grafts and 1.3 million angioplasties performed every year
Stress is thought to Contribute to the development of CHD(1.)

The new Park "Urfer Family" outweigh the investment costs and maintenance savings in expenditure on public health for Sarasota County, especially if NGOs County and the local primary medical community develop policies among their patients

1.-(From:Heart Disease Patients who Practice Transcendental Meditation have Nearly 50% Lower Rates of Heart Attack, Stroke, and Death
Results of first-ever study to be presented at annual meeting of the American Heart Association in Orlando, Nov. 16)

From a medical standpoint, the architecture of the park, "Urfer" integrates the community to physical exercise, meditation with nature, family life linked to the values of local cultural identity, both elements increase health mental people, has a strong impact on quality of life of the community and spending on public health of the county in an amount greater or twenty times more than the cost of maintenance

Inside the new park in Sarasota, Florida my wife surprised loocking for first time the original technology that made possible between 1909 and 1920 the construction of anti-earthquake building based on concreted blocks, it was stunning to find the original source, a few steps of home, in this museum pieces that show us what we had studied in books and road engineering thesis and architecture so many years ago when we were young at the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba in collaboration, at that time, with the Kalinin Polytechnic Institute of Sain-Petersburg, Russia. This is the original 1909 machine invented in America to make the first concreted block with mechanical design that make in 1921 develop the first building antisismic research in an American University and soon later in Russia. Actually million in the world are safest thank this technologist develop by enginnering of road and Arquitecture, American School.
This is a poster of the house that the City of Sarasota will open soon as a local museum inside the Park, dated in 1907.
Not surprisingly in Sarasota, Florida, when the park opens, the sarasotians, non for profit, in this county, organize exhibitions where there is a rich local history and a vocation to family life, farms, nature, camping, art, circus, marines science and technology.

Here in Sarasota, is in United States history, the socio-economy industrial focus of American Heritage Florida 1920-1945, and, to show an example, we present an eminent local artist dedicates his work to preserve the local historical heritage that is influencing the world.

American children from twelve years and younger to 35 years have a huge concern for the environment and the food crisis worldwide, and unanimously supported Obama in his election. They were atracted by the exposition about how to save the bees.(All pictures in the Park have been taken by Gualterio Nunez Estrada with Olympus SP-565UZ made in Viet Nam.You can copy for free.)

In Honore and Big Ridge is located the First Urfer family Park with a museum of local Florida American Heritage that will opening soon in the Zip Code 34233.
Now you can manage your strees very easy, for free and boost your brain with phsical training equipment by the way you walk in this Park and at the same time you have signs to stop and measure your hearth rate when you joggin...but also, you can have information about your own heritage and "green" education about enviroment care...

Today, at ten in the morning, less than fifteen minutes from the Sarasota Bay and on the corner of the house where I live, has opened a park for families to do exercises, celebrate birthdays and have a vision of step local culture in a museum located in a former country house of 1907 which is still preserved.

American construction machinery from 1909 to 1920 on display in the "URFER FAMILY" Park during his inauguration is especially important because worldwide originated the technique in construction of earthquake-resistant buildings, particularly in areas such as in Tashkent, Uzbekistan where the students are trained to deal with earthquakes subjected to intense this region, thanks to U.S. technology that we saw in the park was able to develop a new architecture, from l921, based on enginnering of concrete blocks prodution to designe earthquakes resistant buildings.

Earthquakes have much impact on seismic zones, from a very early age pupils are taught to protect themselves, please click the video and will see a class where Tahsken primary schoolchildren are taught to protect themselves in case of earthquake ...

I was surprised when I saw the exhibition for construction machinery from the early nineteenth showing old machines to make concrete blocks ranging from 1909 to 1920 when they had to perfect this type of architecture and civil engineering, precisely because during the seventies when I analyzed Russian thesis advised by an architect on the construction of earthquake-resistant buildings in the district, "Jose Marti" in Santiago de Cuba this told me that the original basic thesis of the reference came from an American university in 1921 as indicated by the bilbiografy in Russian, and now I am here in Sarasota that I can see the old machines that made it possible for millions of individuals are protected against earthquakes in buildings of four floors or more, the rusted machinery, here in this park in Sarasota that gave rise to many thousands of apartments in my hometown so close to Sarasota, Florida and its inhabitants at that time for a thesis in addition to proven architecture and affable character, friendly and hospitable nature of its inhabitants who are so much like my people in Cuba by frequent expressions of love and affection so they treat us wherever we go ... Perhaps that the technology will also have the imprint of the soul and hope of which made their work and sweat for others to enjoy their dedication and effort no matter where they are, or who are ...? Anyway, I think, this is the magic where there is a strong cultural impact in all this old machinery especially in the American Heritage full of symbols from the work culture and advanced technology for all the planet, no only for americans or sarasotians residents...

ST GEORGE'S, Grenada, November 13, 2009 - Prime Minister Tillman Thomas continues to seek help from friendly countries for Grenada's farmers, and this time it's Egypt which that Caribbean country is hoping to benefit from.

During a recent meeting with Egyptian Ambassador to Grenada, Ali Saleh Mohamed Mourad, Thomas discussed assistance in the areas of agriculture and tourism.

"We are working to transform Grenada's agricultural sector because it is an area that can generate foreign exchange and employment for our people," the Prime Minister told the Egyptian Ambassador, who confirmed that Egypt is interested in building the island's human resources in both sectors.

Mourad also suggested that it was possible for Grenada, along with Egypt, Venezuela and another Caribbean country, to get involved a project in agriculture and chemical processing.

Both the Prime Minister and the Ambassador agreed that Grenada could benefit from the experience of Egypt in the area of irrigation technology, which is regarded as the best in the world.

They also welcomed the opportunity to deepen bilateral relations and strengthen the relationships between the two countries.

The two officials also discussed the preservation of Grenada's historical sites, artifacts and landmarks as part of the enhancement of the island's tourism product.

The problem is the practice of love with all and for the good of all as established at the Jose Marti practice in Tampa, Florida.

I remember when I worked in a restaurant, a young Italian who ate killing hunger after trying in vain to sell expensive clothes for winter, made in italy, wandering the streets of Little Havana in Miami.
I remember my Italian friend Mananger and educated in Rome that he cursed:
"Do you came to Florida, for what, all we have here are crocodiles, sun, beaches, palms, oranges and restaurants, you're crazy ...
At the end had to buy a ticket to return to Rome where he had come with the dream of El Dorado.

In bad weather, good face, the only option is to invest in higher education and health for all.
If the poor and small Caribbean countries are set to discuss development strategies waiting for foreign investment fall from the sky and the banking system to recognize them by humanity, are in error, but do not need to look to Haiti and we know that happens to us, but we can not settle, we can not stand with arms crossed waiting for crumbs, benevolence and goodwill of rich countries tend to look only to their own problems and set their eyes primarily in Asia, no further proof, just visit a store books in Florida seeking books about Latin America culture and, almost only to find Garcia Marquez and Isabel Allende in competion with some rich countries non-latinoamerican writers making money with the mayan prophecies, the most solded for customers everywhere as tomate soup canned in the market, and the Caribbean maps and travel guides for cruise tourism to avoid being bitten by mosquitoes or become infected with exotic diseases when for some hours passengers touched ours small island of the West Indies, we exotic lands yet with "cocos and muchachas".

What is our pride without specific gravity in science, technology and engineering, and poor participation of scientists in the mass communication of the Caribbean and Latin America where only we hear them when the government takes away the money funds and resources as happens for example in Puerto Rico, although,in the island exists an eminent university: "The University of Puerto Rico and the same happens in Florida with The University of Miami and Florida and more institution as NASA, for example. ?

This is a quotation taken from Frank T. Brogan, chancellor of the State University System of Florida, "GUEST COLUMNIST" IN "THE SARASOTA HERALD TRIBUNE", "Talent Sector" growth take unified effort by state educators":
Published: Wednesday, November 11, 2009 at 1:00 a.m. Last Modified: Tuesday, November 10, 2009 at 3:29 p.m.xxx
"Florida's future prosperity relies on the quality of its work force. To compete in the fast-changing knowledge economy, we need more well-educated citizens. We need more people with college degrees.
This year, almost 70,000 students graduated with degrees from the state university system. That's a huge injection of talent into the Florida economy. But 70,000 graduates are not enough to fuel the economic transformation our state needs."
(END OF THE QUOTATION)
We have another one from "Florida Board of Gobernor, Florida University System about "The Knowledge Economy: Link:.- http://www.flbog.org/pressroom/news.php?id=324

This is and abstrac taken from some sentences that we found in the website:
So what is a knowledge-based economy?“ ‘The knowledge-based economy’ is an expression coined to describe trends in advanced economies toward greater dependence on knowledge, information and high skill levels, and the increasing need for ready access to all of these by the business and public sectors.”
..knowledge can be infinitely reused at zero marginal cost, firms who use knowledge in production can earn quasi-monopoly profits... Such an economy takes brain power. And that must come from students educated...

Then, taken note of this sentences I considered we can not wait in poor caribbean countries for tourist, snowbirds or realtor to recovery the economy as scholars way of meaning in Florida, the area reference, we need to take action in university education and health system because they are vinculate by every School of Medicine... and there is our future

They said more with a very pragmatical way of meaning as we see in this reference:

“If we can use the universities as the knowledge-based engine, we can slingshot out of this recession,” Frank Brogan, former president of Florida Atlantic University, now chancellor of the state’s higher-education system, said recently. “Simply waiting for a thousand more people a day to come into the state and the housing industry to come back is short-sighted.”

Universities are major producers in the global knowledge economy, they become pivotal in this race to maintain a viable economic base.( Taken from the website of "Florida Board of Gobernors" )

Look at this information:

Singapore with less population than Cuba, much less that Florida is going far beyond Mexico, Brazil and Argentina registered U.S. patents...

And what is the problem?
The problem is the practice of love with all and for the good of all as established at the Jose Marti political action in Tampa, Florida, Marti united the cubans emigrate in United States with the cubans in the islands, without discrimination, based on community education in Tampa and labor union with the support of phicisians and teachers. I think it is the key, I considered: the education in order to face an unequal war probed by the history or to face difficult times, far superior to a war as we live, time of climate change job insecurity, low productivity and instability of hard currency by the increasing value of gold.
Just look at the psychology of marketing in Florida repeatedly calling people by phone to take the kids to Disney, but they never do with tourism at the center of NASA launched, much less with the museums of the state remained virtually flat anonymity for media and advertisers, with reason, because of the poor state of education, not just headquarters of transnational corporations have left the state, and so you goes to the Caribbean, much worse hundred times than Florida, where the local myopia worse still the future than racism and colonialism, and politicians spend their lives crying mercy to the IMF and sending diplomats as run-and-tell, without thinking that the responsibility for development rests on the degree of social responsibility of the wealthy locals, the social responsibility which wrote the English physician and philosopher John Locke and that few care because not even know that this philosopher there is also more important than the Encyclopedists that left the issue of democracy in the middle of sustaining individual liberty did not really can exist without a full education for social responsibility and habitat to all peop
le around us without discriminating against them, under any circumstances.
I advise that caribbean must considered to do as the Vietnamese, very poor, but very higth sense of to be a cultured people since the ancient times-even in Viet Nam exist and archeology of vietnamese education heritage-, who invested in education and health for all, and today, the whole world has factories in Vietnam and even though it is a very poor country, they start as a recently economy of "ma and pa" and besides with a communist system but at the end the education decide the credit for inversionist around the world to landing in that country and expanded as Olympus, now, dedicated to minning bussines by the increasing price of the metals and gold, jumping every day.Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida, 34233.

Florida's future prosperity relies on the quality of its work force. To compete in the fast-changing knowledge economy, we need more well-educated citizens. We need more people with college degrees. Necesitamos más personas con títulos universitarios.

This year, almost 70,000 students graduated with degrees from the state university system. That's a huge injection of talent into the Florida economy. But 70,000 graduates are not enough to fuel the economic transformation our state needs.

“Simply waiting for a thousand more people a day to come into the state and the housing industry to come back is short-sighted.”

The Fall of the Egyptian Old Kingdom
By Professor Fekri Hassan
Last updated 2009-11-05
BBC
Climactic change and the political administration destroy the Empire in Egypt. This was so severe that famine gripped the country and paralysed the political institutions. People were forced to commit unheard of atrocities such as eating their own children and violating the sacred sanctity of the royal dead. The Egyptian sage Ipuwer gives a graphic description of the horrendous events of that time.

..a pronounced shift in atmospheric circulation occurred in around 2150 BC. This data indicates that an abrupt, short-lived event of cold climate led to less rainfall and a reduction of water flow in a vast area extending from Tibet to Italy. This had catastrophic effects on such early state societies as the Egyptian Old Kingdom.

Lo, the desert claims the land Towns are ravaged, Upper Egypt became a wasteland Lo, everyone's hair [has fallen out] Lo, great and small say, 'I wish I were dead' Lo, children of nobles are dashed against walls Infants are put on high ground Food is lacking Wearers of fine linen are beaten with [sticks] Ladies suffer like maidservants Lo, those who were entombed are cast on high grounds Men stir up strife unopposed Groaning is throughout the land, mingled with laments See now the land deprived of kingship What the pyramid hid is empty [The] People are diminished.

... the Nile can be considered as the force which destroyed the civilization that it had nurtured.

All Upper Egypt was dying of hunger, to such an extent that everyone has come to eating his children ... The entire country had become starved like a starved grasshopper, with people going to the north and to the south (in search of grain).
(Al-Baghdadi, a physician / scholar from Baghad)

The low Nile episode that devastated the Old Kingdom was, however, of greater magnitude and duration than that of 967 or AD 1201.

Cuba and United scientist researcher meet in the island.

U.S. Science Group Seeks Cooperation With Cuba
By Jeff FranksNovember 11, 2009

HAVANA (Reuters) - A group led by the head of the United States' biggest science organization is in Cuba this week to discuss ways to rekindle scientific cooperation as U.S.-Cuba relations slowly improve under U.S. President Barack Obama.
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Peter Agre, president of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), told Reuters on Wednesday the group had met with government officials and Cuban scientists, all of them enthusiastic about doing science together.

USA-Cuba

"Nothing concrete so far, but much good will," he said on the second day of a visit that ends on Friday.
The Cubans "are nothing other than warm-hearted about this. They would love to see things move forward," said Agre, who won a Nobel Prize in chemistry in 2003.
He said U.S. and Cuban scientists had a long history of working together that continued even after relations between their governments soured following the 1959 revolution that put Fidel Castro in power.
But the last five decades of hostilities, and particularly the years under Obama predecessor George W. Bush, have made joint efforts difficult. The AAAS hopes this will change under Obama.

"Cuba has been kind of a dead zone (for cooperation) because of the separation, but the opportunity to be here is something I'm looking forward to," Agre said. "It's something we would both benefit from."
The AAAS last sent a delegation to Cuba 12 years ago, he said.
The best opportunities for cooperative research appear to lie in medicine, where Cuba's emphasis on public health and vaccine development could prove valuable to the United States, and the environment, particularly shared resources such as the Gulf of Mexico and migratory wildlife, he and delegation members said.
As a start, Agre said, the AAAS will invite several senior Cuban scientists to its annual meeting in February in San Diego.
Obama has said he wants to end hostilities with Cuba, but also that he will maintain the 47-year-old U.S. trade embargo against the communist-led island until the Cuban government makes progress on human rights. Cuba has said human rights are strictly an internal matter not subject to negotiation.

U.S. Delegation on Science Policy Travels to Cuba

AAAS President Peter C. Agre, a Nobel laureate in chemistry, is among the members of a non-governmental U.S. delegation that will visit Cuba for discussions on science policy from 10-13 November.

The visit includes meetings with leading Cuban scientists and policy officials. It is meant to explore research issues and multilateral science venues that might be conducive to U.S.-Cuba scientific cooperation. The trip comes at a time when scientists in the United States and in Cuba have been urging expanded scientific cooperation between the two nations.

[PHOTOGRAPH] Peter C. Agre

Peter C. Agre

In a 17 October 2008 editorial in the journal Science, Michael Clegg, the foreign secretary of the U.S. National Academy of Sciences, and Sergio Jorge Pastrana, foreign secretary of the Academy of Sciences of Cuba, noted that the U.S. embargo on exchanges with Cuba, established in 1961, continues to hamper scientific cooperation.

The authors called for a new framework for cooperation and urged that the present U.S. license permitting restricted travel to Cuba be expanded to allow direct cooperation in research. President Barack Obama has said he wants to end five decades of bitterness between the two nations.

In addition to Agre, who is director of the Johns Hopkins Malaria Research Institute, the delegation includes:

  • Anthony (Bud) Rock, chief executive officer of the Association of Science-Technology Centers and a former acting assistant secretary of state for science, technology, environment and health affairs;

  • Lawrence Wilkerson, professor of government at the College of William and Mary and chief of staff to Secretary of State Colin Powell (2002-2005);

  • Steve Clemons, director of the American Strategy Program at the New America Foundation;

  • Vaughan Turekian, AAAS chief international officer and director of the AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy;

  • Patrick Doherty, deputy director of the American Strategy Program and director of New America’s U.S.-Cuba Policy Initiative;

  • Anya Landau French, director of research for New America’s U.S.-Cuba Initiative;

  • Maximillian Angerholzer, executive director and secretary of the Richard Lounsbery Foundation.

The delegation plans to visit the Academy of Sciences of Cuba and the University of Havana. The delegation also anticipates meetings with officials of the Cuban Ministry of Science, Technology and the Environment; the Ministry of Higher Education; the Ministry of Public Health; and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

The AAAS Center for Science Diplomacy provides a forum for scientists, policy analysts and policy-makers to share information and explore collaborative opportunities. The center has been particularly interested in science diplomacy as a catalyst between societies where official relations might be limited, and to strengthen civil society interactions through partnerships in science and technology.

The Association of Science-Technology Centers (ASTC) is an organization of science centers and museums dedicated to furthering public engagement with science among increasingly diverse audiences. The association has nearly 600 members in 45 countries, but currently has no member institutions in Cuba.

The New America Foundation is a nonprofit, nonpartisan public policy institute that addresses the next generation of challenges facing the United States. The foundation’s U.S.-Cuba policy initiative seeks a more sensible direction in bilateral relations for the benefit of both countries.

Upon their return, members of the delegation will conduct a series of public and private briefings on the visit and produce a written trip report that will be available to the general public.

Commentary: Who's listening when the Caribbean speaks?

Published on Friday, October 9, 2009
Email To Friend Print Version
By Ronald Sanders

In Turkey, where meetings of the IMF and the World Bank were held during the week of October 4th, Caribbean Finance Ministers raised with the First Deputy Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, John Lipsky, their concerns about “the need for better representation and participation of small, developing countries in key meetings and fora such as the G20, where decisions that can significantly impact these small economies are frequently made”.
Sir Ronald Sanders is a business executive and former Caribbean diplomat who publishes widely on small states in the global community. Reponses to:
www.sirronaldsanders.com

But, Caribbean representation in the already overcrowded G20 will not happen without a strong case being made and accepted by governments currently at the table. Similarly, much needed reform of the IMF and World Bank to benefit the Caribbean appears remote At the Bank/Fund meetings, the President of Guyana, Bharat Jagdeo, as current Chairman of CARICOM, led a team of Prime Ministers from the Bahamas, Barbados and St Lucia to make a case to the President of the World Bank, Robert Zoellick, that special attention should be paid to relieving and restructuring the debt of the highly indebted, vulnerable, middle income countries of the region. And, Barbados Prime Minister, David Thompson, speaking at the formal meeting was emphatic that “limited access to World Bank funding has forced many middle income Caribbean countries to borrow in the private capital markets at substantially higher rates and shorter repayment terms”. Mr Thompson recommended that “further consideration be given to this issue of access by middle income countries to financing from the multilateral financial institutions.” All of this is right. The entire Caribbean region is facing a serious reversal of its economic and social progress arising from a number of factors. It is true that one of the significant factors is poor economic management and decision-making by some of their governments, and this is a concern that Caribbean countries must themselves address. The external factors are also real. Not least among them is the point raised by both Jagdeo and Thompson that the classification of Caribbean states as middle-income countries disqualifies them from concessionary financing from the international financial institutions and forces them into the commercial market for borrowing. But, is anyone really listening? The moment for effective reform of international institutions is fast receding. Those industrialised nations that pledged themselves to reform in the wake of last year’s financial crisis are quickly retreating from their pledges as their economies begin to pick-up. The creation of the G20 and the provision of some additional resources to the IMF appear now to be the most they will do. The new resources for the IMF are insufficient and, in any case, are not targeted to middle income countries such as those in the Caribbean; they are focussed on low income countries and on bigger countries such as those in Europe and Mexico. A so called Flexible Credit Line has been introduced by the IMF “for countries with very strong fundamentals, policies, and track records of policy implementation”. Caribbean countries will not qualify for among the criteria are: a track record of steady sovereign access to international capital markets at favourable terms, and sound public finances including a sustainable public debt position. Why these criteria should be relevant instead of ones that recognise the need to stimulate stagnant economies and provide support for social welfare programmes speaks to the anachronistic role of the IMF which still operates as an agency of the victors of World War 11, despite all the rhetoric. As for the World Bank, the Turkey meeting deferred any increase in its capital until next year. Therefore, the Bank is faced with a limited lending capacity, and in this scenario, countries such as those in the Caribbean that are designated middle-income are not a priority. Caribbean Heads of Government and Finance Ministers raising their concerns with Heads of the International Financial Institutions and in the formal sessions of the Bank/Fund meetings was absolutely right. They do not get much chance to do so, Caribbean countries have no seat of their own on the Boards of these bodies where they are represented by Canada. And, while Canada may be a sympathetic ally, there is no substitute for authentic argument from high representatives of Caribbean countries themselves. In this connection, the prospect of any reform of the international financial institutions that would benefit the Caribbean in terms both of representation at the highest levels and change in IMF conditionalites and World Bank criteria for concessionary financing, does not appear to be on the cards anytime soon. This is why Caribbean countries should adopt a collective and cohesive approach to this issue devoting resources to a joint and continuous diplomatic effort to put their case forcefully to the international community at every opportunity. It is well within the region’s capacity to establish a task force of public sector and private sector professionals, under the umbrella of a special unit of the CARICOM Secretariat, to undertake this task. The task force could be mandated to produce documentation with all the necessary rigour for presentation to the Boards of the International Financial Institutions and to influential governments. Much of this work has already been done by a group established last year under Caribbean Development Bank President, Compton Bourne. In turn, high regional representatives led by one or other of available Heads of Government could be appointed to engage the international community in an intense campaign on the basis of a well-debated and agreed CARICOM strategy. The Commonwealth Heads of Government Conference in Trinidad in November presents a unique opportunity to make the Caribbean case to five Heads of Government of G20 countries – Australia, Britain, Canada, India and South Africa. They may not get far with Australia and Britain, but India and South Africa with whom they have close links, and Canada with whom they share a common neighbourhood should listen. The Commonwealth Secretariat has itself done a great deal of work on small states and reform of International Financial Institutions. The November Commonwealth Summit, therefore, is an excellent forum for the Caribbean to advance a cohesive campaign.

"The chairman of the Senate Banking Committee on Tuesday unveiled a sweeping regulatory reform bill that would strip the Federal Reserve of nearly all of its power to oversee banks, setting up a possible clash with the Obama administration, which has argued for the central bank to play a pivotal role in addressing financial threats.
The legislation promoted by Sen. Christopher J. Dodd (D-Conn.) would impose the most fundamental change in the Fed's mission since the Great Depression, leaving it responsible for little besides setting monetary policy. Senior administration officials and Fed leaders, by contrast, have urged that the central bank retain its power to oversee large and complex financial firms whose collapse could endanger the global system"

American nuclear scientists warned of the danger of a financial crisis in years prior to the crisis, but nobody paid any attention.

Shortly before the outbreak of the housing crisis here in Sarasota, his hepicentro, like that of 1930 and the global economic crisis hits I report critical of U.S. nuclear scientists in scientific journals about the danger of the concentration of capital on Wall Street due to two reasons they stated in mathematical argument:
1) The thesis of the yard sale or garage sale for free competition ends Porla Which uncontrolled accumulation of cash on hand of the most skillful and opportunistic. This course Focuses on owners of large capital investors half powerfully influence the behavior and the opinion of the masses, ie political power passed into the hands of clans that dominate the money and media mass, not the Congres, or the Senate much less the President and the voters.

2) The second critical aspect was that they made the mathematic formula for change or currency valuation imposed by the U.S. in 1971 and Governed in Switzerland biweekly When hard currencies are valued, they claim that this formula mathematically capital concentrated in a few hands.

3) The Russian Economy syndrome: Kremlin when economic collapse, with many more resource than United States and logistic, Was freezing up for lost purchasing power of consumers in the domestic economy as happens now in the U.S. with credit and loans from banks.

Schizophrenia can be cured as destructive disease of personality.

Schizophrenia and bipolar disorder have the same genetic basis according to the latest scientific article that appears in the journal "Nature" of which I was informed by a comment I read on BBC World, a web page source of knowledge for their informative articles on science, sports and culture, that was two days ago, and although, for the Western world that seems to be a new knowledge, and these concepts are handled in a doctoral research psychiatrist at the School of Medicine of the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, where he raised the cure of the ezquizofrenia through clinical treatment, cheap, accessible to third world countries on the basis of clinical methods for diet and hormonal control, under the "Room C". While the patient is not cured of mental illness itself, the ezquizofrenia becomes a controllable bipolar disorder and benign as Albert Einstein, despite having this disease, could develop their research in Physics until his death. So for me this is not a new concept in medicine, as it ran in Cuba since the early 90s of last century. If this thesis is found in large scale or in medical congress would be equivalent to the discovery of Fleming and penicillin, it also raises the detection method ezquizofrenia risk groups of teenagers before the first outbreak of the disease.

The vision of Walesa on The Fall of The Berlin Wall "

..when I look back and see all the missed opportunities, I am not satisfied.
Lev Walesa says in an interview in the newspaper "El Pais", Madrid, Spain, that the first collapse of the USSR were the Polish trade unions for several reasons:
Gorbachov, Merkel y Walesa1) were more able to mobilize the masses while recognizing that the Communists who fought against have their own achievements or interests as workers, they, the union figth against his own rigths at that time and they don't recover anymore in Poland when they became in a free democracy. We have the impresion that Walesa recognized this contradiction in the interview.
2) The elderly Russian leaders were dying one after another in power, creating destabilization in the areas of power.
3) He call Gorbachev a "weak political" without free will. To read the full interview, click here:http://www.elpais.com/articulo/internacional/Estuvo/bien/Gorbachov/fuera/politico/debil/elpepuint/20091110elpepiint_4/Tes
INTERVIEW: Twenty years after the fall of the Wall Former President Lech Walesa of Poland
"Estuvo bien que Gorbachov fuera un político débil" "It was good that Gorbachev was a weak" by CHARLES HAWLEY (DER SPIEGEL) 10/11/2009 10/11/2009

The world looks to Berlin when the city celebrates the 20th anniversary of the fall of the Wall. But Lech Walesa, the man who led the Polish trade union Solidarity, said that the collapse of communism began in Polish shipyard, and that "deserters" of East Germany threatened their ultimate success.(...)

Filmmaker views Haiti revolution through leader’s eyes

Published: Thursday, November 5, 2009

Updated: Friday, November 6, 2009

Correction appended.

At a screening of his 2007 documentary about the Haitian revolution at the Watson Institute for International Studies last night, filmmaker Noland Walker discussed the implications of the momentous event in the context of human rights and slavery.

Walker’s film, “Egalite for All: Toussaint Louverture and the Haitian Revolution,” chronicles the events of the Haitian revolution through the eyes of one of its most important leaders, an educated former slave named Toussaint Louverture , whom one historian interviewed in the film dubbed “black George Washington,” and another termed a “genius.”

As a member of Haiti’s plantation-owning elite, Louverture became secretary for the rebel slaves when fighting broke out between them and the white landowners in 1791. He acted as liaison to the white planters and originally tried to design a peace settlement that would push blacks back into slavery — a “stark recognition of 18th-century realities,” the film’s narrator says. The struggle lasted for about a decade until by 1804 the French revolutionary government had freed nearly a million slaves across the empire, and Haiti had won its independence.

“The Haitian revolution raises the most fundamental question in the Americas in the 19th century: slavery,” Professor of Africana Studies Barrymore Bogues said at the screening. Bogues served as a commentator throughout the film along with Walker and fielded questions on Haiti’s history.

Historians debate whether to idolize Louverture for his leadership and intellect or to condemn him for the military power that he gained after the revolution — the aftershocks of which can still be felt in Haiti’s militaristic society today, Bogues said.

Walker said that although shooting the movie in the Dominican Republic with a mix of Dominican and Haitian actors and crew caused some racial tensions (the film relied heavily on historical re-enactments), the film still accomplished its main goal.

“We wanted to get across that the Haitian revolution was not just Haiti’s revolution,” he said. “It was an inclusive human rights struggle”

“In the midst of the most absolute form of domination — racial slavery — there is hope,” Bogues added. “That hope is important for all people who suffer from domination. That, to me, is the real story behind the Haitian revolution.”

Wednesday night’s lecture was the second in a two-part series on Haiti co-sponsored by Watson’s Center for Latin American and Caribbean Studies, the C.V. Starr Lectureship and the Department of French Studies. The first lecture, on Vodoun religion and culture, took place Oct. 30 — All Hallow’s Eve, a day when Haitians celebrate the passing of ancestors.
“Without the Vodoun religion, we wouldn’t have had the Haitian revolution,” said Visiting Lecturer in Latin American Studies Patrick Sylvain, who organized and moderated both events.

“Vodoun remains very much centered in the history of the ancestors, and it remains very much centered around the whole aspect of freedom,” he said. “By the way that Catholicism was imposed on the slaves, in addition to slavery, Vodoun became the vehicle to which all of these tribes became unified.”

He said one of the major events leading up to the revolution was a religious ceremony in 1791, in which the slaves formed a pact of unity to achieve freedom, a central tenet of Vodoun.

The talk featured Marie Evans, a high priestess in the Vodoun religion. Sylvain said the priestess described the roots of the religion in the area of Vodou, West Africa, and its emphasis on its followers’ ancestry in order to “demystify” the religion.

“In Hollywood, they call it Voodoo, but the term is Vodoun,” he said. “Vodoun means spirit, or spiritual world, whereas Voodoo is an American invention, in a sense, that portrays this negative aspect of pins and needles, and so forth.”

Evans’ talk was followed by a short dance by Jean Appolon, a professional Haitian dancer, about whom Sylvain is producing a documentary.

The recent events exploring Haiti fit well on Brown’s campus, where the John Carter Brown Library houses a world-renowned collection of Haitian artifacts.

“I believe it’s the largest collection of Haitian documents written at that time in American and the second largest in the world, after the National Library of France,” said the library’s director, Ted Widmer, who said he seeks to raise the library’s profile as a center for Haitian research.

The library hosted a conference and exhibit on Haiti in 2004 in honor of the 200th anniversary of the country’s revolution. Widmer said the library is about to undertake a project to digitize many of its rare Haitian documents in an effort to make them available to institutions in Haiti.

“I’m trying to build up our collection, digitize our collection and take what we’ve got and make it available to the people who care about it the most: the Haitians themselves,” he said.

A caption on page 1 in Thursday’s paper (accompanying “Filmmaker views Haiti revolution through leader’s eyes,” Nov. 5) incorrectly identified the man speaking as the filmmaker, Noland Walker. The man pictured in the photograph is Professor of Africana Studies Barrymore Bogues.

Medical association backs health system reform

"The message is that the House of Delegates met, and in a very democratic process, voted to support the AMA continuing to work with Congress for a reform of the health care system to make it better for patients and the physicians who take care of them," said the AMA's President-elect Cecil Wilson.

By MONICA RHOR and LINDSEY TANNER (AP) – 12 hours ago
HOUSTON — The American Medical Association on Monday rebuffed dissident members and voted to stick with support for ongoing health reform efforts, while reiterating wariness over proposals that threaten doctors' pocketbooks and independence.
The action at the group's semiannual meeting in Houston could be seen as a vote of confidence for AMA leaders who voiced support for the $1.2-trillion, 10-year bill the U.S. House passed Saturday.
Several dissident doctor organizations within the AMA had urged the group to reverse its position and come out with a strong statement opposing Democrat-led reform efforts. Some urged the AMA's 544-member House of Delegates to vote to oppose any health overhaul that includes a public insurance option and Medicare payment cuts to doctors, and that excludes tort reform.
Discussions about the proposed resolutions spurred a lengthy debate Sunday that went on for more than eight hours.
However, during a two-hour discussion Monday, delegates — physician members who set AMA policy — voted instead to follow the more moderate path chosen by AMA's leaders including its president, Dr. James Rohack. Delegates adopted a health reform statement similar to one approved at their annual meeting in June, after President Barack Obama came to Chicago to seek AMA approval for his health reform agenda.
"The message is that the House of Delegates met, and in a very democratic process, voted to support the AMA continuing to work with Congress for a reform of the health care system to make it better for patients and the physicians who take care of them," said the AMA's President-elect Cecil Wilson.
The measures adopted Monday say AMA will support health overhaul that is consistent with AMA policies, including freedom to choose health insurance and universal access for patients. Any health insurance options should not require physicians to participate, or restrict patients' access to out-of-network doctors, the measure says.
The measures also say reform must include a Medicare physician payment system that keeps pace with the costs of running a medical practice. One resolution spelled out the group's opposition to cuts in Medicare payments.
One of the most spirited debates Monday came while discussing a proposed resolution calling for the AMA to actively oppose "any new public health insurance option, which is defined as a federal government backed and/or funded insurance plan."
"My strong concern is that a public option as defined in the resolve would become the only option for patients," said Michael Greene, a representative of the Georgia delegation who introduced the resolution.
Lori Heim, president of the American Academy of Family Physicians, was one of several speakers opposing the resolution. "Despite dire predictions of what may occur, we don't know that. There may be a public insurance option that provides the criteria we are looking for," Heim said. "It's important to keep our options open, to keep the discussion going."
The resolution was voted down by a 315-199 margin, and the AMA's position — neither opposing nor supporting any specific public option — stayed unchanged.
Another resolution stating that the AMA should oppose the just-passed House bill also was soundly defeated by a 350-167 vote, again showing delegate support for a previously-stated AMA stand. Last week, the organization expressed support for the bill, but did not give a full endorsement saying the bill was not a perfect fit.
"I would much have preferred to come out strongly against a public option, but I think we also made positive changes," Greene said following the vote.
Tanner reported from Chicago.

Doctors in pain.Frustrating, heart-rending working conditions force many to improvise.

"You often have patients that you know what to do but you just cannot because you don't have the wherewithal or the equipment to help," said Dr Dane Miller public relations officer of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA).

Doctors in pain
Frustrating, heart-rending working conditions force many to improvise

Public sector doctors yesterday highlighted extremely difficult and frustrating conditions under which they are required to work and that force them, in many instances, to improvise in order to save lives and, in a few cases, to employ triage.
"You often have patients that you know what to do but you just cannot because you don't have the wherewithal or the equipment to help," said Dr Dane Miller public relations officer of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA).

highlighted extremely difficult and frustrating conditions under which they are required to work and that force them, in many instances, to improvise in order to save lives and, in a few cases, to employ triage.
"You often have patients that you know what to do but you just cannot because you don't have the wherewithal or the equipment to help," said Dr Dane Miller public relations officer of the Jamaica Medical Doctors Association (JMDA
).
According to Dr Miller, a junior surgical resident at the University Hospital of the West Indies (UHWI), doctors get things done under very challenging circumstances only because they are the "masters of improvisation".
Dr Miller and other members of the JMDA executive - president Dr Shane Alexis, first vice president Dr Vincent Riley, publications editor Dr Romayne Edwards, and secretary Dr Twesige Mugisa-Malcolm - were guests at the weekly Observer Monday Exchange meeting of reporters and editors at the newspaper's Beechwood Avenue headquarters.
Dr Miller, unable to camouflage the pain he felt at working in conditions that he described as "extremely frustrating and heart-rending", said that only last weekend he had to decide which of the three patients under his care needed more immediate attention since one was an emergency patient on the ward, another was in the Accident and Emergency (A&E) department and the condition of the third was deteriorating.
"I can't split myself into three, so I had to triage. go to A&E, sort that one out, and decide where to go next," Dr Miller said.
Triage is the action of sorting casualties according to priority. It is often used in hospital emergency rooms, on battlefields and at disaster sites when limited medical resources are available.
Dr Miller said that sometimes doctors are forced to use equipment which would normally have been replaced in a first-world setting.
Pressed about a worst case scenario resulting from the lack of equipment in hospitals, Dr Miller said he has been in a situation where the power went out in the middle of a surgery and the standby generator was not working.
"Nurses had to hold flashlights for us to continue," he said. However, he pointed out that similar situations have occurred in first-world settings. A mandate of the JMDA, he said, will be to identify ways to improve the conditions.
"We cannot continue along the path we are on," he stressed.
He argued that while health care has been made free, infrastructure and staffing have not caught up with the increased demand.
Dr Alexis, in his contribution to the discussion, said policies regarding free health care have to be revisited, given the new set of economic conditions facing the country.
"In other words, it is time for the policy makers, doctors and stakeholders to sit down and revisit our health sector and try and make the necessary improvement," Dr Alexis said.
He said the per capita expenditure for a country like the United States is upward of US$4,000 per year to treat a patient compared to Jamaica's US$400.
"What we have to look at is not developed versus developing but humans versus humans,"
he said, adding that there is a need to look at how much resource is dedicated to health care in Jamaica.
"The question we have to ask ourselves is how much is a man worth in Jamaica," he said.
Dr Alexis pointed to shortages of basic equipment such as lights, proper treatment and examination rooms, resuscitation sets, among other implements in critical areas.
Doctors, he said, do not even have a desk on the hospital wards and so all documentation has to be done standing either at the bedside or at the central administrative area.
"Sometimes sharing sensitive information, for example a patient who is HIV positive, you have to go into the storeroom sometimes to break the news to them," Dr Alexis said.
Dr Riley concurred, and added that working conditions at public hospitals are the same islandwide as there are too many patients with too few doctors and supplies.
Dr Riley, who works at the St Ann's Bay Hospital, said it is always a struggle to find bed space for patients.
He told the Observer that another grave problem is lack of diagnostic services at public hospitals.
There are only two CT scanners and no MRI services except at the UHWI, which is not considered to be a full public hospital, he revealed.
Simple machines like those used to measure oxygen concentration in the blood and do ECG (echocardiogram) often do not work.
"When that happens you have to make a decision based on clinical assessment to determine if persons can afford to have it done privately," he said.

Another concern, according to Dr Riley, is the issue of getting patients to another hospital to do tests, since there is an acute shortage of ambulances, many of which are out of service.
This affects other health care services as when patients arrive late at another facility for an appointment it throws off the schedule of others.

Welcome
Wondering where our next meal is coming from is something most of us never have to worry about. However, for many in Sarasota and Manatee counties, it's a constant concern. Thanks to the continued support of schools, religious organizations, corporate sponsors and individual members of our community, we have helped thousands of hungry children and adults who rely on assistance from programs like the Mayors' Feed the Hungry Program.
There is an immediate need in our own communities and we need your help - right now - more than ever before.
A contribution to this all-volunteer program means your money goes to feed the hungry! The only administrative expenses are for the production of printed materials and mailing costs. All money collected stays in our communities and is used for food vouchers that are distributed throughout the year by local churches, civic groups and social services agencies. (See About Us for more information.)
Last year your generosity provided over 12,000 meals - over 35% went to children, over 16% went to the handicapped and over 15% went to the elderly - however more than 40,000 requests were left unfilled!
We already know the need this year will be even greater because of current economic conditions.
Even the smallest contribution - combined with others - will help feed the hungry.
As we launch our campaign this year, we are asking you all to lend a helping hand once more. Remember, every dollar counts - please feed as many as you can.

The consumerist paradise happy that permeates social discourse has little to do with everyday perception of the majority.

Twice as many veterans are homeless at some point during the course of a year. There were 196,000 in 2007 and 154,000 in 2008 . The number of homeless Vietnam-era veterans - about 80% of the total - exceeds the number that died in the war (58,148) . American vietnamese Congresist:Cao’s Health-Care Vote Puts Endangered Republican ‘On the Map’

Cao said he “listened to the countless stories” from constituents “whose health-care costs are exploding -- if they are able to obtain health care at all. Louisianans need real options for primary care, for mental health care, and for expanded health care for seniors and children. I have always said that I would put aside partisan wrangling to do the business of the people.”

Nov. 9 (Bloomberg) -- Representative
Anh “Joseph” Cao has spent his first year in the U.S. House being the Democratic majority’s most reliable Republican. He underscored that role when he became the only member of his party to vote for the health-care bill the chamber passed.
The plan to overhaul the nation’s health-care system was approved 220-215 late on Nov. 7, with 39 Democrats crossing party lines to oppose it.

Comment:
Allways, pediatricians around the world have paid special attention to the baby crying and gynecologist to the family environment and emotional stability of the pregnant woman, but because in the western world judechristian philosophy has ruled the moral that the fetus has no awareness which was established in the first half of the book "Essays on Human Understanding" by the English phicisian and philosopher John Locke, to date had not expressed much attention to the problem, even the as legal issue so many countries still do not address the rights of the fetus, the pregnant woman and the child but in practice, sometime, ethical and moral grounds this three legal juridical persons are protected under the guise of defenssenless but not legal in nature itself. The fact that in Germany have discovered a form of consciousness of the fetus in terms of their social environment around three months before birth is a developing line of research australiano-American scientist Dr. John Money that sent me years ago by US mail his thesis on fetal forms of consciousness after six months in the womb of the mother on the basis of an investigation into Sicohormonals Research Center in Maryland, "Johns Hospkins, now confirmed in Germany with more certainty what we already knew: the programming linguistic. so a child born based on "Sexofia" a new science proposed by my dear friend Dr. John Money, today more alive than ever inside the latest scientific research around the world.Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida, 34233.

John William Money, Ph.D.(1921-2006), sex researcher, pediatric psycho-endocrinologist and co-founder of the Gender Identity Clinic at Johns Hopkins, defined the concepts of gender role and identity.
John Money (8 July 1921 - 7 July 2006) was internationally known for his work in psychoendocrinology and developmental sexology. Born in Morrinsville, New Zealand, Money emigrated to the U.S. in 1947 and received his PhD in 1952 from Harvard University. In 1966, Dr. Money founded the Gender Identity Clinic at Johns Hopkins University and started an extensive research program on the psychohormonal treatment of paraphilias and on sex reassignment. John Money formulated, defined and coined the term "gender role," and later expanded it to gender-identity/role (G-I/R). In 1961, he proposed the hypothesis that androgen is the libido hormone for both sexes.
Extending his research from the clinic to clinical history, Dr. Money wrote about the 18th century origins and present consequences of antisexualism in The Destroying Angel: Sex, Fitness, and Food in the Legacy of Degeneracy Theory, Graham Crackers, Kellogg's Corn Flakes, and American Health History (1985). Venuses Penuses: Sexology, Sexosophy, and Exigency Theory (1986) is an anthology of his theoretically significant writings. His publications also cover the philosophy and methodology of science in the practice of clinical psychoendocrinology and sexology, including Unspeakable Monsters in All Our Lives: The Complete Interviewer and Clinical Biographer, Exigency Theory and Sexology, and many other monographs

Human fetuses are able to memorize auditory stimuli from the external world by the last trimester of pregnancy, with a particular sensitivity to melody contour in both music and language [1], [2] and [3]. Newborns prefer their mother's voice over other voices [4], [5], [6], [7] and [8] and perceive the emotional content of messages conveyed via intonation contours in maternal speech (“motherese”) [9]. Their perceptual preference for the surrounding language [10], [11] and [12] and their ability to distinguish between prosodically different languages [13], [14] and [15] and pitch changes [16] are based on prosodic information, primarily melody. Adult-like processing of pitch intervals allows newborns to appreciate musical melodies and emotional and linguistic prosody [17]. Although prenatal exposure to native-language prosody influences newborns' perception, the surrounding language affects sound production apparently much later [18]. Here, we analyzed the crying patterns of 30 French and 30 German newborns with respect to their melody and intensity contours. The French group preferentially produced cries with a rising melody contour, whereas the German group preferentially produced falling contours. The data show an influence of the surrounding speech prosody on newborns' cry melody, possibly via vocal learning based on biological predispositions.

Over 90 Experts Call on Human Rights Watch to Speak Out on Honduras Abuses
WASHINGTON - August 21 - 93 scholars and Latin America experts from institutions such as Yale, Harvard, and New York University sent an open letter to Human Rights Watch today urging the organization to highlight various human rights violations in Honduras under the coup regime, and to conduct its own investigation. The signers, who include well-known experts on Latin America such as Eric Hershberg, John Womack, Jr., and Greg Grandin, Honduras experts such as Dana Frank and Adrienne Pine, and well-known authors including Noam Chomsky, John Pilger, and Naomi Klein, note that Human Rights Watch could help force the Obama administration to denounce the abuses and put greater pressure on the regime. Highlighting "politically-motivated killings, hundreds of arbitrary detentions, the violent repression of unarmed demonstrators, mass arrests of political opposition, and other violations of basic human rights," the letter notes that Human Rights Watch has not issued a statement or release on the situation in Honduras since July 8, a little over a week following the June 28 coup d'etat.
The signers write, "...the coup could easily be overturned, if the Obama administration sought to do so, by taking more decisive measures, such as canceling all U.S. visas and freezing U.S. bank accounts of leaders of the coup regime."
The letter comes just a day after Amnesty International issued a new report on the coup regime's violations of human rights in cracking down on protests, and as the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights (part of the Organization of American States) wraps up a fact-finding delegation to Honduras. The author of the Amnesty International report, Esther Major, has stated

that the report was released to call on the international community to take action to "prevent a human rights crisis occurring in Honduras."
The full text of the letter follows:
August 21, 2009
Kenneth Roth Executive Director Human Rights Watch
Dear Mr. Roth,
We are deeply concerned by the absence of statements and reports from your organization over the serious and systematic human rights abuses that have been committed under the Honduran coup regime over the past six weeks. It is disappointing to see that in the weeks since July 8, when Human Rights Watch issued its most recent press release on Honduras [1], that it has not raised the alarm over the extra-judicial killings, arbitrary detentions, physical assaults, and attacks on the press - many of which have been thoroughly documented - that have occurred in Honduras, in most cases by the coup regime against the supporters of the democratic and constitutional government of Manuel Zelaya. We call on your organization to fulfill your important role as a guardian of universal human rights and condemn, strongly and forcefully, the ongoing abuses being committed by the illegal regime in Honduras. We also ask that you conduct your own investigation of these crimes.
While Human Rights Watch [2] was quick to condemn the illegal coup d'etat of June 28 and the human rights violations that occurred over the following week, which helped shine the spotlight of international media on these abuses, the absence of statements from your organization since the week following the coup has contributed to the failure of international media to report on subsequent abuses.
The coup regime's violent repression in Honduras has not stopped. Well-respected human rights organizations in Honduras, such as the Committee for the Relatives of the Disappeared Detainees (COFADEH), and international human rights monitors have documented a series of politically-motivated killings, hundreds of arbitrary detentions, the violent repression of unarmed demonstrators, mass arrests of political opposition, and other violations of basic human rights under the coup regime. The killing of anti-coup activists has beendocumented in pressreports, bringing to a total of ten people known or suspected to have been killed in connection to their political activities. Press freedom watchdogs such as Reporters Without Borders and the Committee to Protect Journalists have issued releases decrying the regime's attacks and threats against various journalists and the temporary closure and military occupation of news outlets. Various NGO's have issued alerts regarding the politically motivated threats to individuals, and concern for people detained by the regime, but no such statements have come from Human Rights Watch.
This situation is all the more tragic in that the coup could easily be overturned, if the Obama administration sought to do so, by taking more decisive measures, such as canceling all U.S. visas and freezing U.S. bank accounts of leaders of the coup regime. Yet not only does the administration continue to prop up the regime with aid money through the Millennium Challenge Account and other sources, but the U.S. continues to train Honduran military students at the Western Hemispheric Institute for Security Cooperation (WHINSEC) - the notorious institution formerly known as the School of the Americas. If the coup were overturned, and the democratically elected government restored, it is clear that the many rampant human rights abuses would immediately cease. If Human Rights Watch would raise its voice, it would be much more difficult for the Obama administration to ignore Honduras' human rights situation and maintain financial and other support for its illegal regime.
We know that there are, sadly, innumerable urgent human rights crises around the world, all of which require your attention. Addressing the deteriorating situation in Honduras, however, is of paramount importance given its potential to serve as a precedent for other coups and the rise of other dictatorships, not just in Honduras, but throughout the region. History has shown that such coups leave deep scars on societies, and that far too often they have led to the rise of some of history's most notorious rights abusers, such as in Pinochet's Chile, Videla's Argentina, and Cedras' Haiti, to name but a few. As human rights defenders with extensive experience in dealing with the appalling human consequences of these regimes, Human Rights Watch is clearly well placed to understand the urgency of condemning the Honduran regime's abuses and to helping ensure the coup is overturned, that democracy is restored, and that political repression and other human rights abuses are stopped. Your colleagues in the Honduran human rights community are counting on you, as are the Honduran people. We hope you will raise your voice on Honduras.

The diet, depression, chemical process in the brain and the behavior in United States.

My greatest experience, to leave Cuba, to a multicultural country like the United States was noted as culture and diet determine not only the health and behavior levels among ethnic groups, but their ability to make correct decisions in extreme situations due to that the diet associated with the culture of life seem to determine the brain's biochemical processes which depend on moods.
My empirical observations based on my previous experience of science writer at a university, seem to matter now that I read information about diet and the brain on BBC World http://www.bbc.co.uk/mundo/ciencia_tecnologia/2009/11/091102_procesados_depresion_men.shtmland I shall explain below.
1.-When I moved from Miami to Sarasota and began to have social contact with Anglo American groups found that groups that never were depressed and showed improved health were farmers, working in farm and rural families were from, they never buy junk food, unlike the rest of the customers and have the correct weight, an erect posture and good balance when walking as opposed to Anglo urban groups or urban culture when they become elderly. These groups in Sarasota American farmers never see them extres, act calmly, quietly spoken and always smile, just the opposite of a high percent of urban culture obsessed with the phone, talking hurriedly and tense before any activity, usually large buyers of junk food.
2.-Cuban don't use to eat with hot sauce, only by exception, but when working as a stevedore in loading trucks in a warehouse in Sarasota, one day in the dining room by replacing the Cuban food fro Mexican tacos with homemade salsa that I hosted from a group of mexican co-workers, having finished lunch when I directed to work to experience a wave of energy that made me work faster and more efficiently than I had previously, then when I wanted Mexican food but I was recommended to marry a Mexican.
3.-A young Cuban who worked with me, here in Sarasota, Florida, showed his ID from Madrid, Spain, I saw the photo in his face was smooth, natural color like and appel and then I asked how long he had taken it, he explained me that it was taken a year earlier when even living in Spain, then looking at his face full of pimples and sores, very different from Spain face in the ID and very similar to my daughter living in Atlanta I realized that the average American diet is not healthy because they don't have culture of mediterranean diet as in Spain. In a year in the U.S., everything had changed, even the quality of facial skin, was something like the picture of Dorian Gray. in the face of this young of 23 years old,
3.-My most impressive experience was in a Vietnamese restaurant in Sarasota operated by a large family comes from Binh Dinh (in Vietnamese Bình Định pronunciation (help·info); Han Tu: ) is a province of Vietnam. It is located in Vietnam's South Central Coast region.,where already I was more than 55 years, after a week to eat Vietnamese food experience high levels of energy compared to when I was twenty, which surprised me because my mental and imaginary behavior love's map was increased to levels comparable to those of such age, for me, at that time I consider that this type of diet increases the hormone levels and quality in the body. The way they cook, most with the fire inside the pan,no fat, no salt and all organic components, using the coconut in many cases, it is very healthy. Before, I had tasted homemade Chinese food and Thai, but not with the same effect as the Mexican, and especially, the Vietnamese food that covers more energy levels. Also note otherwise, the Vietnamese elderly of this family, of course, highly educated upper middle class in Vietnam, did not show almost no wrinkles on his face and saw the bust are much more erect than that of Western women of their age, as well as skin, smooth, even in old age, with charming and very clear mind and personality. This family and friends celebrated two and three times families parties where young children and the elderly were the main objects of attention, always happy and joking in the family during these periodic of meetings as I saw that it was customary among Cubans on the island, but with little or almost no use of alcoholic beverages in vietnamese.
4.-During my stay at the Vietnamese restaurant I made several experiments in sociology causing verbal aggressive behaviors between age groups, the youngest retired to avoid confrontation, but not blocked, the adult became the most thoughtful, and sympathetic old man smiled as if I was a child, a behavior very different from Cubans who explode like a rocket with a slight hint and blocked, I think the diet has to do with this and could be applied in the regime of schools and prisons where there are tensions different type...
5.-The most recent experience occurred in Miami, told me a Cuban engineer graduated from the same university where I worked Cuban, he led a squad of Cubans who put this story and get a brigade smallest Mexicans who volunteered to work at half the price of the Cubans, the Cubans, mostly technical and university when they lost their job did not leave the place, simply turned to watch as he worked the small Mexican brigade. My friend told me the engineer was a great surprise, they worked twice as fast as the Cubans and with much greater precision and finish the job without signs of fatigue.

H1N1 vaccine shortage leaves doctors managing crowds, anxieties

Many physicians are struggling, often in vain, to find H1N1 vaccine or locate alternative sources for patients.
By Christine S. Moyer, amednews staff. Posted Nov. 2, 2009.

The unexpected delays in producing influenza (A)H1N1 vaccine, coupled with the virus' rapid spread, have left doctors nationwide scrambling to determine how to allocate meager vaccine supplies, and manage offices full of sick and worried patients and their families.
"People are scared. People are frightened. And they're feeling like, 'Oh my God, I need the vaccine and it's not available,' " said John Sage, MD, a family physician and medical staff president at Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill.The CDC anticipated 40 million doses of H1N1 vaccine shipped by mid-October 2009; only 22.4 million doses were shipped. 46 states reported widespread flu activity by Oct. 17, 2009.

Mental phenomena are nothing but phenomena of the physical brain.

Expand Your Mind: Getting a Grasp on Consciousness
Alexander Shulgin, Christof Koch, Patricia Churchland and Ira Flatow
December 1, 2005 http://faculty.washington.edu/chudler/ehceduc.html

Mental phenomena are nothing but phenomena of the physical brain, says Patricia Churchland. It’s “an illusion of the brain” to think that we have a “nonphysical soul that does our feeling.” But how the brain creates constructs of itself and things in the world remains a major puzzle. For instance, how does a brain “habitually represent goals, plans and projects -- things that don’t yet exist?” And what about the huge amount of spontaneous activity in the brain that occurs while we’re resting? We don’t understand how the “organization of a motor response is achieved,” nor how these responses are integrated across sensory systems together with memory. Churchland anticipates a fundamental shift in looking at the brain that will merge philosophical and neurobiological issues.

Chile's President:"Men feel more a fatal attraction for power"

The danger of deciding on the basis of logical errors is much higher in the decision-making when the power is not shared between men and women.
Considerations of the President of Chile on shared decision making by men and women at the power of government have a scientific guarantee, besides the quoted in the piece that we showed in the blog, that the Australian scientist - American John Money recommends that parents speak to the child as the mother tongue of each one because the lack of linguistic references may confuse the child as it begins to assume the role of sex in puberty, this consideration is based on thesis research psycho-hormonal that this scientific development in his laboratory at the "Johns Hospkins in Maryland, applied this principle to a management body of government, military or space travel, science shows that the participation of women at management level in the government is directly related to the development of an awareness of logical errors in the operation of steering control.
This is seen in the fact that many countries who are cautious in their geopolitical, tend to handled the counterintelligence in the hands of more women than men, yet they make the logical mistake of making government decisions will be made between men, basically. This is because whon derives the role of sex is the man to affect their levels of awareness and decision making(Ref: KAPLAN: PHILIAS-jHON MONEY), not the woman as John Money introduced in the thesis of 1956 on the role of temporary shunting in young male inmates, biologically, also was demonstrated in the laboratory in Maryland, which unlike what arises in the Bible, is nonatus female during the first three months and acquire biological definition of "asigned" sex later.

A woman named Gilligan who has studied neuroscience based on watching the little boy and the girl resolve conflicts in kindergartens. She says that everyone wants to resolve the conflict (which is why I am not saying that men come to power to do something bad and good women), but women, when they solve a conflict, seeking win-win solution. Looking to the result is good, but not at the expense of many wounded on the road, but hopefully a win-win. In contrast, men are more concerned with the result that by the process. Do not want to make sure this is completely true. (I am not saying that women are better than men!). But what I mean is that I think we should look for the best contribution of women and men, because apparently there are some traits of leadership that may be different, complementary leadership and a society can do more things."
