"It is not the same to have a station in Jamaica, which have in London or New York, are very different context. A rich country can afford to lose values and recoveries easily. A poor country is sinking and are not easily regained never as Haiti. The loss of cultural values, moral and spiritual values through the media has a direct impact on the economy of a poor country, such as the Caribbean countries, and puts thousands into poverty, emigration and ultimately destabilizing the nation with a dictadure as in happens in Chile in 1971."Gualterio Nunez Estrada, Sarasota, Florida.
The media in poor and small countries, such as the Caribbean, to be instruments of education, culture, science and extensive exchange of ideas and opinions with responsibility that involves the entire population.- We need, AS SOON AS POSSIBLE,a television, a website, a newspaper and a radio CARICOM where throughout the Caribbean, including Cuba, WHERE WE CAN WATCH LIVE expressed OUR problems, DISCUSSING THEM, with freedom of expression, to share our experiences and see ourselves in our own root FOR EVERY CARIBBEANS INDEPENDENTLY WHERE THEY ARE, INCLUDING CARIBBEANS IN FOREIGN COUNTRIES WITH REAL INTEREST IN THE HOMELAND, IT IS A VERY IMPORTANT FACTOR OF OPINION INSIDE UNITED STATES, WHERE SPANISH LATINOAMERICAN MINORITIES ARE GROWING UP WITH A NEW GEOPOLITICAL FACTOR OF CHANGE, AND EUROPEANS COUNTRIES. THAT FOR INVERSIONIST, HEALTH AND MENTAL PREVENTION AND POLICY ABOUT SOCIAL SECURITY, DISEASE AND POVERTY,EDUCATION, ENERGY POLICY AND A WAY TO AFFORD THE CARIBBEAN IDENTITY CULTURE FOR EVERYBODY, A WAY TO HAVE GARANTEE AGAINST A DICTATOR OR A TRANSNATIONAL OR SUPPORTING A PRESSURE OF A RICH COUNTRY LIKE A COLONY IN THE POWER AS USUAL HAPPENS BEFORE.
Communication, informatic and energy policy are vinculated and they are a real power in the area inside the global economy. We are still not having a massive media where we reflect ourselves as a set of countries, only the BBC, wih a british-europeans point of view, has a website on the Caribbean which reflects the events of all countries.-A crucial factor for the founding of the Universidad de Oriente in Santiago de Cuba, Cuba, in 1947 were local radio and print media. The media at that time developed an awareness of the need for a university in the eastern part of the island for the quality of its programming and the high culture of the media. Culture, education and science are durable goods that raise the morale and the spirit of a nation and these must be the parameters of the media extremely expensive for the nations of the Caribbeans nations. What is the advantage for a poor country with a program run by communicators without university degree can not give the audience any knowledge that programs directed against culture, education and science, against the spirit of the nation and the values cultural roots of maintaining biodiversity. or recreate the crime to bring a sick feeling in the audience? The psychology of the population is guided by the media, a person who hears a radio program influences the opinion of ten they have not heard, and if it passes with the press. You need people responsible, accredited university and approved by ethics committees of government so they can work in the media contributed to the population and quality programming that serves as a tool to build universities and the future of the nation and the CARICOM. The schedule of the BBC and its protocol, parameters are good for the Caribbean. CARICOM must create an ethics commission of the media within their institution of science, culture and education to monitor the quality of the media and its validity as a contribution to European population. Radio programs that use rudeness, vulgar double meaning, the destruction of language, explicit sex and mockery against homosexuals and handicapped people should be removed from the air. They should be changed with the programming schedules of adult content at times where minors may be part of the hearing. The government of Jamaica, in my experience as a writer and producer of radio and TV in Cuba has every reason to pay serious attention to the media. Being an owner of mass media is not a letter of marque to destroy culture, education, science, language and moral issues to do business with the country's culture. Otherwise, it is jeopardizing the future of generations. It is not the same to have a station in Jamaica, which have in London or New York, are very different context. A rich country can afford to lose values and recoveries easily. A poor country is sinking and are not easily regained never as Haiti. The loss of cultural , moral and spiritual values through the mass media has a direct impact on the economy of a poor country, such as the Caribbean countries, and puts thousands into poverty, emigration and ultimately destabilizing the nation as it happens in Chile in 1971. Time before, discussing with the MAPU chilenian ambassador's Salvador Allende in Havana about mas media I warning him about the danger of the chilenian state by the mass media behavior in that country.
